Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Great But shocked how it ended.
Revisado: 03-24-21
Steinbeck’s detailed descriptions are colorful. I could picture the scenes easily in my mind. His description of how people were taken advantage of was a sad reminder of those trying times.
Dylan Baker did an excellent job of narrating throughout the book!
As end of the book was near I wondered how he would close. I was Very Surprised.

Historia
Henry David Thoreau is a beloved American author, poet and philosopher. He was a lifelong abolitionist, advocate of civil disobedience againts unjust or corrupted goverments, and he defended the idea of abandoning illusory matters in favor of simple living, in order to discover life's authentic essential needs. He is best known for "Walden, or Life in the woods", the book he wrote during his two-year experiment in minimalist living: having built himself a cabin in the woods, he stayed there to study, write, and enjoy his newfound communion with nature. His political works and theory of civil disobedience have influenced the thoughts and actions of many prominent figures, such as Leo Tolstoy, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Repetition of some Quotes
Revisado: 02-13-21
‘Go confidently in the direction of your own dreams...’ was repeated at least 4 times with some variations. A few others were repeated as well.
In my opinion the pause between quotes was perfect. Jonathon Waite did a good job as the narrator.
