Not your usual girl meets boy story
Revisado: 05-14-12
I don't generally listen to a lot of nonfiction. However, I enjoyed this real life story that had somewhat of a fiction feel. The story of how these two people meet and the direction their lives take is unexpected and doesn't end with everything tied up in a neat little bow. The story draws you in and you want to see how it all ends. Not to give too much away, but while there are definitely some heartbreaking moments I felt this was ultimately an uplifting story.
I enjoyed the information on what it takes to run an orchard and you'll never look at an apple the same way after this story.
If you want to listen to a story of a real life relationship including the good and the bad then this story is worth a listen.

Great listen
Revisado: 03-14-12
This was a great listen, well worth a credit. I had read Erica Bauermeister's previous book about a cooking class and enjoyed it so was looking forward to listening to this. It did not disappoint. I enjoyed how each chapter focused on one character and their challenge and how they met it. It made me think about what we might be missing out on life because we might be afraid to try something new.
The story struck the right tone between not too heavy and not too light. I had a few driveway moments where I sat in the car for a few minutes longer after arriving home to hear what happened next.
The narration was generally good, but the male characters, the few that there were, all kind of sounded the same.
All in all a fun, engaging story that also makes you think a little bit about what joy you might be missing out on.
