Historia
Miss Clara Marie Stanton's family may be eccentric, but they certainly aren't insane. London, England, 1860: When Clara's ex-fiancé begins to spread rumors that her family suffers from hereditary insanity, it's all she can do to protect them from his desperate schemes, society's prejudice, and a lifetime in an asylum. Then Clara's grandfather Drosselmeyer brings on an apprentice with a mechanical leg, and all pretense of normalcy takes wing.

Too religious
Revisado: 09-12-24
This was a generally decent story - except for all the references to god and the fact that god controls everyone’s life. If you believe that - fine. But there should be references in the summaries to alert people to religious preaching. Similarly to porn - as some books listed as “romance” are actually pornography. To each his own - but let audible listeners know first.

Historia
“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable - a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly dangerous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, however, have also chosen an unlikely agent.

A really innovative and suspenseful story, with great character development. It’s easy to see how Gabriel Allon was created!

Good narrative. Interesting character development. Too much religion
Revisado: 01-12-24
Unnecessary religious references in the story. Distracting and not taking into account that not everyone is Christian.

This book would have been good, except for all the references to god and gods will. Really didn’t enhance the story and only viable for those who are heavily religious and believe that someone else controls our lives - which I do not.

Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.
