We’re unrooted from the land, untethered from our lineages, disconnected from our communities, and separated from our deepest sense of self. In Root and Ritual, Becca Piastrelli offers a pathway back to connection and wholeness through rituals, recipes, and ancestral wisdom.

Something is lacking—
Revisado: 08-29-21
Something is lacking— more content— less narration— perhaps.
Must be easy to get on the #1 best selling list.

A great book—Welcome Home!

My sister asked if this book had anything to do with being in the military and I said “no “ but I was wrong! It is for everyone especially people who have experienced trauma of any sort. I would call it a self help book but not sure the author would agree.

Historia
If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

Historia
As the US occupation of Iraq rages, novelist Mortada Gzar, a student at the University of Baghdad, has a chance encounter with Morise, an African American soldier. It’s love at first sight, a threat to them both, and a moment of self-discovery. Challenged by society’s rejection and Morise’s return to the US, Mortada takes to the page to understand himself. In his affecting memoir, Mortada interweaves tales of his childhood work as a scrap-metal collector in a war zone and the indignities faced by openly gay artists in Iraq with his impossible love story and journey to the US.

Review: I’m In Seattle, Where are you?
Revisado: 04-22-21
Interesting: the trials and successes of a gay male.
The reader was a little difficult to understand at times— not sure it was the author— don’t think so— as an interpreter of the book is listed.
I would like to have seen Mortazda find his American friend in Seattle— that’s life— it doesn’t always turn out the way you would like.
I’m assuming this is a true to life story but fiction never the less.
Overall, well written.
