Historia
Kate is a Keeper—a storyteller, magic-wielder, and researcher—but a single mystery has evaded her all her life: What happened on the tragic day when two strangers stole not only the puzzle box that hummed with magic but so much more? She and her brother Bo have searched for twenty years with no luck. Until Venn, a surly elf, shows up on the hidden doorstep of the Keepers' Stronghold with that same aenigma box—and a message that Bo has disappeared. Kate needs a guide back to Venn's homeland to search for him, and Venn needs to find him for reasons of her own.

It was a great thought that this would be connected to The Keepers Origins - but … I’m still waiting for a consistent story line

Typical story line but very well presented. Characters are independent and yet work very well together - and easy to identify throughout the story

Historia
The truth is neither plain nor simple. Sable, a reluctant thief from the slums, can feel truth when people speak. For years she’s been using that skill to try to break free from the vicious gang boss to whom she's indebted. Escape comes in the form of an odd set of companions: a dwarf running from the past, an actor with a magical, glowing tree, a too-helpful kobold, a playwright with a knack for getting stories out of people, and a man and woman with suspicious, magical powers. But Sable’s freedom is short lived.

Very Trying
Revisado: 12-09-18
This could be a great story, and in most parts the narrator does a good job. Unfortunately, there were so many new characters added that sounded like most of the other characters - it was hard to keep up with or place "who was who". This is my third attempt to make it to the end of book 1... it's a challenge!

What was the point/purpose
Revisado: 08-29-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. I put it down several times, but was determined to give it the benefit of the doubt. It seems the writer couldn't decide on where to take the story, could not establish a consistent plot, very disappointing.
Has The Crimson Petal and the White turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, its not the genre, it's the writer. The writer has talent, but seemed to lack focus.
What aspect of Jill Tanner’s performance would you have changed?
Eliminating the constant "story teller" interjections, allowing for more character interactions and their communicating the story.
Was The Crimson Petal and the White worth the listening time?
No, and the ending (or lack there of) only emphasizes my first reaction to put the book down.
Any additional comments?
This could have been a really good read, if...

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

It took "me" a minute to get into this but - sticking around was worth it. "Kate & Michael" does it for me every time. Brandon, great job! Just please don't drag this out by volumes - this was great and I am anxiously awaiting the next read - especially more on Kate's characters... they were all so very interesting - just not enough...

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Revisado: 11-16-09
I became a fan in 2004, having the luxuary of reading the first 8 or 9 series at the same time. I must admit the year long wait periods are not fun but have been worth the wait. Book 12, MORE THAN WORTH THE WAIT! Congrats to Mr. Sanderson, a job exceptionally well done. I read other books - but always end back up reading this entire series at least 2 - 3 times a year. I hope I get to hear/read the last two books before I pass into the next world... (I've already added to my Will that I must take my iPod with me and leaving instructions to download the next update if possible and attach to my ear - regardles of state of life!!!) (Morbid but true!) Again, My Applause to Mr. Sanderson.
