Historia
Photographer and Grateful Dead insider Rosie McGee narrates her memoir, telling dozens of previously-untold stories of living, traveling and working with the Dead during their first decade as a band. Not just for Deadheads or baby boomers - this audiobook is for anyone seeking a woman's intimate account of the San Francisco rock music community in the Sixties, rare in a field of such books most often written by men.

rare facts and experiences

I attended my first Dead concert in 1967. It was interesting to hear the behind the scenes experiences of one of the women we enviously watched dancing on stage.

Historia
Hangdog Days vividly chronicles the era when rock climbing exploded in popularity, attracting a new generation of talented climbers eager to reach new heights via harder routes and faster ascents. This contentious, often entertaining period gave rise to sport climbing, climbing gyms, and competitive climbing-indelibly transforming the sport. Jeff Smoot was one of those brash young climbers, and here he traces the development of traditional climbing "rules," enforced first through peer pressure, then later through intimidation and sabotage.

Nostalgia for the Yosemite climbing scene
Revisado: 06-04-22
I listened to this book in the car driving back from a visit to Yosemite where I worked in the 70's and 80's. A great read from a climbing insider. Memorable stories. Very entertaining.

Historia
On their 50th anniversary comes a groundbreaking rock-and-roll memoir by one of the founding members of the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead are perhaps the most legendary American rock band of all time. For 30 years, beginning in the hippie scene of San Francisco in 1965, they were a musical institution, the original jam band that broke new ground in so many ways.

Ultimate Detailed Grateful Dead History
Revisado: 05-04-20
I didn't have great expectations for this book but was pleasantly surprised. For all his drug taking and partying, Bill Kreutzmann must have been keeping an excellent journal over the years. Very comprehensive history of the Dead chronicling many interesting and surprising stories about their escapades. All told in chronological order from the origins in the 60's to Jerry's death in 1994 and beyond. The history of the Dead is the history of many of us who were members of the counterculture at any time from the 60's through the 90's. A very enjoyable and engrossing story. The narrator sounds just like you think Bill Kreutzmann would sound--a crusty old cosmic cowboy.

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Illumination of the Me Too movement origin
Revisado: 12-25-19
I was fascinated by the process of uncovering Harvey Weinstein's abuse of women. Ronan Farrow's narration kept my attention-- he has a knack for reproducing multiple voices.
