The narration is spot on. The story is pure Miami Herald humor writer Florida, fleshed out into a fun extended narrative. No one other than Hiasson and Barry comprehend the people and world of Fla like these guys

Unfortunately for the narrator this is not a book suited to Audible. There are far too many hashtags and distracting tweets that in narration the story suffers.
This narrator is great, but cannot rescue the audio book format.
Best read page by page, not for listening.

Not believable and formulaic
Revisado: 05-06-21
This was a disappointment from about the first half hour in. I had hoped for it to get better, but it kept getting less and less believable.
Certainly one of the worst books this author has appended his name to.

An elderly couple have made a few well-meaning mistakes, and now they owe big money to some very bad people. One brazen move leads to another, and suddenly Reacher finds himself a wanted man in the middle of a brutal turf war between rival Ukrainian and Albanian gangs.

The basis of the story is not believable at best.
The narration is good. Fast paced but far too violent to be believable.

Simplistic and formulai
Revisado: 02-24-17
What would have made Cross Kill: A BookShot better?
This could have been written by a computer.
There is little to pull the reader into the story, there is no personality in the characters, and the plot is worthy of half a Hill Street Blues story.
Very thin
Has Cross Kill: A BookShot turned you off from other books in this genre?
Not in the genre, I am a fan.
But by James Patterson, yes. Robin Cook did the same thing.
Write a few successful books, then sit on one's laurels, use your characters
and turn them into pap novels, not even pulp.
What three words best describe Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s voice?
Smooth, enthusiastic, capable.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It ended, initially, but then led to a really lousy turn of non events.
Any additional comments?
Will not be listening to the sequel.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

Makes one get up at 5 am to go to the gym
Revisado: 07-17-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Silkworm to be better than the print version?
I listen to audiobooks while working out in the early morning hours. An engaging story, twist and turns in plot and a great reader all make for an excellent way to forget you are on a treadmill for endless hours.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Robin , as Strike's assistant, seems always on the verge of something, yet never quite gets there. A bit of a mirror to her boss's life and times.
Which character – as performed by Robert Glenister – was your favorite?
Glenister breathes life into Cormorant Strike's potentially plodding approach to work, and makes you feel the pain of his life outside of the chase.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Starting and stopping the book for getting on with reality is difficult, but when i get home from work, it makes for an excellent reason to get on the hiking trail or the bike.
Any additional comments?
Look forward to the next adventure.

DNA from a 1989 rape and murder matches a 29-year-old convicted rapist. Was he an eight-year-old killer or has something gone terribly wrong in the new Regional Crime Lab? The latter possibility could compromise all of the lab's DNA cases currently in court. Then Bosch and his partner are called to a death scene fraught with internal politics. Councilman Irvin Irving's son jumped or was pushed from a window....

A great reader and a great listen
Revisado: 06-28-15
Harry is as flawed as ever but still gets the job done.
All the usual suspects appear from the series as well, making this a great revisit to the open unsolved unit.
Harry has his self doubt, insight, tenacity, and hard work to get to the root of the crimes and his nemises
I could listen to 10 more of these.

Everyman working for the domestic Anti-CIA
Revisado: 07-13-14
Where does The Intern's Handbook rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a fun book to listen to on the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. It totally takes one away from the everyday life and sets up interesting and insightful conflicts. If you do not like lawyers it is high on the list of good reads. If you are one, well thats a different story. Good story and pace, not Shakespeare.
What did you like best about this story?
The family line in the story gives it some heart.
Which scene was your favorite?
There is a Ninja like scene in the later third of the book that is Rom -Com plausible and risky at the same time.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not a moving book, pure fantasy.
Any additional comments?
Fun summer or workout read, definitely worth the price.

You will love the series if you are tween girl
Revisado: 06-11-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I had no idea from promotional material that this was a teen girl novel.
Unfamiliar with the writer I decided to try the book rather than the series.
The writing is far to simple and the plot lines far too predictable for adult tastes.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Anything else, probably Heart of Darkness to shake off the simple sugar of this book.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Rebecca Soler?
Possibly
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Angel?
All of them.
Any additional comments?
This is an unfinished book I will definitely return.

An engaging listen
Revisado: 04-01-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The engaging lead characters take you through obstacles we all face in every day
life at the office to solve a very complex cold case mystery.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Assad is the classic foil to Karl's determined and calculating police work.
Which scene was your favorite?
Near the end of the book, Assad shows his true colors in a few flashes of brilliance.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No
