Historia
Home is dangerous. I could deal with the implosion of my law career if it weren't for the frightening growth of my paranormal "gifts". Moving back in with my folks has its perks, and working with my uncle at his law firm in our sleepy Southern town is excellent for honing my litigation skills. I'm grateful for the summer to form April's life plan 2.0. It would be an idyllic mini vacation visiting with the people I love most if it weren't for the return of the voices. The spirits are always more assertive at home.

Well Worth The Listen
Revisado: 11-18-22
This fun, Southern tale about a lawyer who attempts to keep her very witchy, ghost-sensing, psychic side hidden as she returns to her hometown (after the big city law firm that hired her straight out of law school shut down pending a federal criminal investigation.) The narrator performs a near perfect accent. If you enjoy fun and often quite frightening stories, don't miss this one. Sure hope this is Book One of the series.

Historia
After being drugged and captured by Animal Control, Max Adams is on Hoboken's doggie death row when his life mate adopts him, takes him home, and promptly names him Fluffy. Wooing a mate while pretending to be her dog? Nearly impossible. While JC, in all her new-pet-owner-ness, feeds "Fluffy" vile kibble, dresses him in mortifying dog couture, and schedules to have his manhood removed, Max's human side gets to know JC. Hopefully well enough to make her fall madly in love, mate with him under the full moon, and move with him to Cedar Glen to live happily ever after forever and ever.

best written girl porn EVER
Revisado: 05-02-22
Several of Cassidy's titles are good but this is, by far, the best written and most entertaining romantic comedy I've heard so far. Tension, conflict, character develop in a paced plot structure. Graphic physical encounters occur in situations and places appropriate to the story structure. It's enough to make even retired English teachers like girl porn.

Historia
Emmy Harlow is a witch but not a very powerful one - in part because she hasn't been home to the magical town of Thistle Grove in years. Her self-imposed exile has a lot to do with a complicated family history and a desire to forge her own way in the world, and only the very tiniest bit to do with Gareth Blackmoore, heir to the most powerful magical family in town and casual breaker of hearts and destroyer of dreams.

beautifully written!
Revisado: 10-16-21
From start to finish the imagery created by this author is breath-taking. The prose carries the reader into such a whirlwind of plot, emotion, scene, setting and character development (especially of our heroine), it's impossible to put down.. As a new fan, I am relieved to see Book 2 is available for preorder now. Oh, just in case this is selected for your book club, there is a thorough set of discussion questions at the end. I love this book!

Historia
Heartsick about her on-again, off-again boyfriend-werewolf, Fiona O’Malley is struggling to make the hardest decision of her life - if she should break up with him once and for all. Though she knows he loves her and is sweet, funny and kind, he’s just not the sort of guy you can depend upon, especially in the romance department. Immortal Matthew “Matty” Hyland is crazy in love with Fiona. He’d do anything to make her happy. Though he tries repeatedly to be there for her, things just keep getting in his way.

Way too violent an opening
Revisado: 02-26-21
this book opened with such a violent set of scenes it does not belong in the nocturne falls universe I returned it. If you like that sort of thing try a crime mystery instead. I returned it and can't recommend it as anything at all consistent with why my library is packed with nocturne falls where conflict is resolved much more artistically.

Historia
Meet Kelly. Twenty-nine, go-getter, a brilliant robotics engineer, and perpetually single. So when her younger sister's wedding looms and her attempts to find a date become increasingly cringeworthy, Kelly does the only logical thing: she builds her own boyfriend. Ethan is perfect: gorgeous, attentive, and smart - all topped off by a mechanical heart endlessly devoted to her. Not to mention he's good with her mother. But as the struggle to keep Ethan's identity secret threatens to detonate her career, Kelly knows she has to kiss her perfect man good-bye.

Delightful First Novel
Revisado: 07-07-19
This snapshot of a woman turning thirty as she solves family, romantic and professional conundrums via revealing inner dialogue and, occasionally, truly shocking behavior demonstrate Archer's applied creativity as well as that of her heroine Kelly. Archer's background clearly prepared her to write for carefully targeted audiences of young, tech savvy professional women. However, grandmothers of these amazing young women will likely enjoy The Plus One as an entertaining and fairly accurate portrait of their own twigs. Although the essence of this story isn't new, the perspective through the emotions subtly leads the reader into an emersion experience of social awkwardness and the stark-raving terror of being human of the current era. This novel is well worth the listen and Sarah Archer is a novelist on the rise.

deWitt deLivers Eccentric Quirky Characters
Revisado: 09-23-18
Have you ever read a novel with a central character consistently delivering a flat affect performance in each and every scene, yet who is endearing and extremely well developed?
Do you enjoy mother-son relationships which seem to have an implied but never blatant oedipal undercurrent?
Do you relish a peek into great wealth while secretly celebrating old-money's sudden losses?
Do you keep any DSM (a DSM-V isn't necessary) in your reference library?
Are you fascinated by stories of stilted relationships - familial, financial, friendship, romantic - unfolding into richly satisfying conclusions?
Do you love cats, New York and Paris?
French Exit provides drama, quirky characters, eccentric behavior, some surprises, love of more than one sort, betrayal, eating and drinking to excess, a private investigator, private schools, some Paris flats, some park benches and a few homeless beings in this extremely well written and entertaining novel.

Don't Miss This Masterful Modern Morality Play!
Revisado: 12-01-16
Whether you are an Anne Rice fan or not, this riveting story painted in lush, eloquent prose brought to life in a magnificent performance by Simon Vance, delivers a deep examination of God, Soul, universal connectivity, equanimity, community, justice, love and even diplomacy. Although I've been an Anne Rice fan for nearly forty years, I did not realize The Vampire Chronicles embodied the internal and external components of a modern morality play until I heard them performed by Mr. Vance. Each of the twelve volumes grinds the characters through grief, physical and psychic pain no mere human could ever survive, thus the vampire, immortal metaphor. Prince Lestat gives us both male and female response to the tribulations and agony of life in 'the savage garden.' I've read and listened to the Vampire Chronicles many times and feel strongly that Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis is, without doubt, her best work yet.
If you are looking for blood and guts gratuitous violence, you won't find it here. Violence is the amazing artistic device she uses as pivotal events to change everything you've experienced up until that point. If you love beautiful writing, you will love this book.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Greatest Supernatural Thriller of the 20th Century
Revisado: 11-06-15
finally arrives, unabridged and expertly produced, in the Audible archive. Whether you are an avid Anne Rice fan or new to her work, you must hear The Witching Hour in its entirety. In addition to the vivid imagery of location, sensation and ethical evolution of her characters for which Anne Rice is world famous, the Witching Hour delivers the most complete, detailed portrait of The Talamasca available in any of her supernatural thrillers. As the history of The Mayfair Witches unfolds, the ancient order of The Talamasca reveals its own history, purpose and growth through the centuries. Although members of the Talamasca are characters in Rice's novels, it's the Witching Hour that births the Talamasca as a fully formed, perfectly complete character in its own right. The Witching Hour is, in fact, the key hole door of Rice's supernatural thrillers as surely as that image is to this powerful, emotional story. Your supernatural library won't be complete without this unabridged production of The Witching Hour.

Awful Production Smothers Story

This needs to go back to the studio. Background sound is a good idea but does not work when sounds drown out the storyteller.
Don't even bother with this until the production quality improves. You can't hear it.

Make Time for Hearing Charades
Revisado: 01-22-13
This is undoubtedly one of the best books ever written in the English language. Somehow I missed Turner Hospital's award winning literary fiction prior to this Audio experience. Charades is a tightly woven character revealed to us in exquisitely visual, scented tangents during her year-long enchantment with and of a brilliant physicist who is twice her age but a few bosons short of a field. The story unfolds in relationship possibilities which impacted me emotionally somewhere between Slaughterhouse Five and The Solitude of Prime Numbers, yet resolves into an elegant solid. If you really love good writing, don't listen to Charades while driving or working with sharp objects.
