Historia
Josie Mitchell's sister Laurel thinks she's come home to pitch in with the apple harvest and save the family orchard. Her brother-in-law Nate thinks she's there to talk the overworked, very pregnant Laurel into finally selling the family business. The orchard's new manager Grady Mackenzie just thinks she's trouble with a capital T. They're all right...and all wrong. Because no one really knows what drove Josie from home in the first place. Why she's never come home before, even for her own father's funeral. Why she pushes herself so hard...and what she's running from.

Spoilers and warnings!
Revisado: 09-14-24
The heroine in this story had a tragic back story, which is not uncommon in D.H. Books, this one was described in a modest way, not too upsetting. What was upsetting for me was the heroine’s depressed suicidal thinking that just went on and on and on. I had a close family member commit suicide that I watched go down hill with the depressed thinking, so this wasn’t pleasant for me, but it wasn’t so bad that I quit the book, which I have with other D.H. Books. But this isn’t a book I would read/listen to a second time. Also the fact that at the end the heroine didn’t get out in the psych ward was disturbing. She needed it. The reader was good, the her as usual was too good, overall the book was okay.

Great reader, lovely story
Revisado: 01-25-24
This reader does an amazing job reading this story, which is one of my favorite of Heyer’s books. This is a book that I re listen to periodically. That is one of the greatest compliments I can give an audiobook.

Favorite book of this series!
Revisado: 09-18-22
I love most of Jenifer Beckstrand’s stories and have mostly enjoyed this series. My only problem with the other 2 books was that the side characters, Bitsy, Alphie, Benji, and Rebecca, stole all the charm from the story, not leaving much leftover for the h/hine. This story does not have that problem, there is plenty of charm to go around and the story is laugh out loud funny in many places. Really enjoyed this one the most out of the series and hope There will be a book for Alphie and Benji further down the road!

Not one of this author’s best
Revisado: 09-13-22
This story was gripping and I did enjoy it, but it was a bit more of a steamy romance than this author’s books usually are and while it fit the character’s, I didn’t enjoy it as much as usual. Also, spoiler: at the end, there is a section where h/hine are “lost to the world” kissing under somewhat unbelievable circumstances, I would think a Pinkerton when would have been a bit more aware of the danger, even though the stupidity is used to move the plot along., Otherwise, it was enjoyable.

Good story, dragged a bit
Revisado: 09-13-22
Really enjoyed this story! Reader did a great job with the different characters voices and the stutter. The story was fun and the romance was sweet, not steamy, which is what I prefer. There were parts in the middle that I missed some because life was happening as I listened and it didn’t really matter because it dragged a bit in the middle, but I did enjoy it and would listen to it again! There is a lot of discussion about faith in the story which I didn’t mind and didn’t detract from the story.

Sweet story
Revisado: 06-19-22
This story is a sweet historical fiction. It is cute but slightly disappointing compared to some of her other stories. The story was read decently well, sometimes it sounded very stilted, not sure if that was the reader’s fault or the writing. Overall I mostly enjoyed it,but it isn’t a story that I want to listen to over and over again.

Amber Marie Sterlington, the rage of the season in Regency-era London, has her pick of men, and she knows what she wants most in a husband: a title and a fortune. But when Amber's social standing is threatened, the character of her future husband becomes far more important than his position.

Sweet story
Revisado: 05-18-22
I really enjoyed this story. I love sweet romantic stories that I can listen too without blushing. This fit the bill besides dealing with a sensitive issue for the heroine that was interesting to see how it worked out. I really enjoyed watching the heroine grow in good chsracter, although I feel the author could have had a bit more fun/interesting things happen as she learned how to take care of herself, but the sweetness of the ending makes up for it!

Okay
Revisado: 05-11-22
I listened to this as part of the “included” catalog. It was mostly okay, but I listened to the first third, skipped the middle third and didn’t feel like I missed anything important and was able to enjoy the last third and the story wrap up. This was an okay story, clean, Christian, but not something I would listen to twice. The narrator did a good job.
