Historia
Down-and-out drunk Terry Lennox has a problem: his millionaire wife is dead and he needs to get out of LA fast. So he turns to his only friend in the world: Philip Marlowe, Private Investigator. He's willing to help a man down on his luck, but later, Lennox commits suicide in Mexico and things start to turn nasty. Marlowe finds himself drawn into a sordid crowd of adulterers and alcoholics in LA's Idle Valley, where the rich are suffering one big suntanned hangover.

Story was too long
Revisado: 07-07-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I'm probably not being fair but could not wait for this short audio book to end. Totally bored by story, did not like narrator, but realized it was probably not the book / story but me.
Has The Long Goodbye turned you off from other books in this genre?
Probably. Used a credit for a boring book.
How could the performance have been better?
No imagination. Narrator did not have a bad voice; was just expected; no imagination.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom. Hoped the "long goodbye" would come .

Historia
From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory; the other in search of the love that she had and lost; theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both.

Enjoyed the interlacing of people's lives
Revisado: 06-10-15
Was interesting to become intertwined in the various lives. Just when there seemed like no option, the author was able to provide an alternative step in a forward moving direction.

Historia
Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again. Winter 1999: Grace Bradley, 98, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken and memories, long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind, begin to sneak back through the cracks.

Alternate title for "The House at Riverton"
Revisado: 12-22-13
Where does The Shifting Fog rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Unfortunately hadn't realized "The Shifting Fog" is the same / alternate title for "The House at Riverton." Great book / wonderful narration but wish Audible had indicated that I had already purchased the same book under an alternate title.
