Historia
An “epic and intimate” (David M. Kennedy) portrait of four generations of the Morgenthau family, a dynasty of power brokers and public officials with an outsize—and previously unmapped—influence extending from daily life in New York City to the shaping of the American Century.

Outstanding and Comprehensive

This book was fascinating to me in many different respects. It gave me a much better understanding of the German Jewish experience so different from the Eastern Jewish immigration experience. It described better than any I have read the relationship between FDR and Henry Morganthou from childhood through WWIi and the description of Bob Morganthou the legendary US Attorney and the equally legendary Manhattan DA was fascinating because I knew so many of the characters, the cases and the story lines. My only reservation is that it really should have been two separate books. All in all an extremely well-written and fascinating read.

Historia
When America entered World War II, Ernie Pyle followed the soldiers into the trenches. Long before television and the internet beamed combat footage directly to us, his dispatches from the front lines augmented the coverage of the war’s politics, strategies, and macro-level mobilizations to give the American public what he called his “worm’s-eye view” of the day-to-day life of the war.

Nothing has been written that captures the real feel of war and of warriors than the words of Ernie Pyle.

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, when Pat Robertson and other televangelists first spoke of the United States being a Christian nation that would build a global Christian empire, it was hard to take such hyperbolic rhetoric seriously. Today, such language no longer sounds like hyperbole but poses, instead, a very real threat to our freedoms and our way of life.

Terrifyingly perceptive analysis of America on the Brink
Revisado: 05-22-23
Suddenly the American Christian Right is not something to pass off but something we must watch and oppose vigorously. It is clearly the danger within our country and must be stopped at every turn.

Historia
In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

Biden at his Most Moving and Most Inspiring
Revisado: 11-27-17
This was an audible presentation that I could not stop. The character of this man, his courage, the trials and torments he has suffered all show that a man of honor can survive and succeed in politics. What a loss we suffered when he decided he could not run. We are now dealing with the disaster of Clinton vs. Trump - one who felt we owed her the presidency and the other a certified liar and narcissist who appeals to our worst instincts . Stay healthy, Joe, we need you.
