Everything you would expect from a man like Bruce!

This book is narrated by the man himself, and he leaves very few ideas, details, or experiences out of this ultra-descriptive explanation and account of his life. Despite how long it is, it really never drags or gets dull, he simply goes into so many different important aspects of his life. He starts with his childhood, family & how he grew up, and continued on to describe every aspect of his rock career and experience very well! He talks about band members, family members, and old friends ad nauseum, and does the same with his concert and record dealing experiences that really provide an insider's view of his life. For any Springsteen fan, (or even non-fans, but just curious onlookers) this book is what you want to listen to! It's amazing and touching, brutally honest, and revealing, while always maintaining the human touch Bruce is so well-known for. Enjoy!! :-)

This book is very interesting, especially the way it starts, with an unexpected metaphor for Jewish life -baseball. Potok allows you to feel connected to the young secular teenage boy who is the main character, and his relationship with the son of a prominent rabbi in the orthodox community. He goes into great detail to explore the history and nuances of how these religious beliefs formed in Eastern Europe. He thoroughly explains the studious life that is expected of such orthodox children, and contrasts it well with the less stringent, but equally trying life of the less studious secular boy. The narration leans heavily upon the philosophy and ideologies of the strict parents as well. The story does become a bit dull towards the end, and the author loses some of the more mystically intriguing aspects of his writing that he so boldly opened the story with. But on the whole, it's a very entertaining and worthwhile listen, and although not quite a 5-star book, is very worth the time to spend listening to it.

This is the ultimate account of all things U2, as Bono talks about his childhood, the band's rise to fame and glory, as well as any of the difficulties they had to overcome, as well as the many friendships they made and the collaborations they formed over the years. He meets many famous people, and goes into detail about the relationship with his wife and kids, and pretty much reveals everything you could ever possibly wonder about! Bono also narrates the book, so that makes it very authentic, and you can't beat his accent, opinions, and quirky mannerisms, which he often describes in words! Highly recommend this fun book! :-)

This tells you absolutely everything you could ever want to know about Bob Dylan's life, an although it does get a bit repetitive hearing about his many women, and lawsuits, it's still very interesting to hear about his many shenanigans and escapades! Very entertaining read! :-)

I really enjoyed this book because of how unique it is. The author describes events that are rarely ever experienced by most of us, and he does a great job of mixing in comedy and a light sense of humor, with some truly philosophical thoughts and emotions, as well as vivid descriptions of places like museums in Amsterdam or Madrid, or the Vienna Opera Houses or the Arc de Triomph in Paris. Love stories are everywhere in this journey through many countries in Europe, and it’s easy to tell that the author is being absolutely truthful and authentic in his telling of the tales. Nothing is made up here, even though much of it is unbelievable!

The narration does throw you for a bit of a curve though, I have to say, because the narrator’s southern accent doesn’t really seem to match what the author would look or sound like, at least not in my mind. The pacing seems a little off at times, as does some of the pronunciation, especially of some of the foreign names and words from other languages like French or Spanish, but all in all, the narration doesn’t completely ruin the book. In many places, it is actually quite charming, and provides a certain comedic or philosophical element of its own separate from the writing itself.

The book does read a little like a collection of journal entries, but I have to say, if we all had journal entries like these, we’d have a pretty entertaining diary and life in general I’d say! I would highly recommend giving this audiobook a listen and you can all judge for yourselves. Personally, I have to say I was quite enthralled!

Brene Brown is a NY Times #1 best-selling author for a reason. Her research is impeccable, and her ability to add personal experience and connection, makes this book extremely relatable. She goes through, systematically, any number of psychiatric and psychological terms, concepts, and constructs, and finds a way to help us dig deep into our thoughts, emotions, and experiences, that allow us to decode significant problems (or joys) in our own life and experiences. She uses examples, research by other prominent experts in her field, and also has a very useful PDF that accompanies the book, and nicely helps drive home some of her more poignant points in the book. I found myself connecting with her often, and on many levels, and her friendly, down-to-earth, and neighborly tone and style of speaking, make it feel like you're talking to a close friend throughout the book. I would highly recommend this audiobook, and even with a person like me who rarely reads any book more than once; this book is definitely one to revisit again and again and apply its suggestions, questions, and comments to your life repeatedly over time. I'm sure this will help many, if not most people looking to improve themselves and their lives! Bravo Brene!

This audiobook is interesting and chock full of information. It focuses primarily from the start on the disappearance of one young man from WA/CA, (and the effect it had on his family during the search) but segues into numerous other cases of travelers, hikers, and other people who have either been lost, kidnapped, occasionally murdered or committed suicide, primarily in America's National Parks or vast hiking trails all over the country, spanning the east coast to the west coast, as well as Alaska and Hawaii. There is much information on the search process by police, volunteers, or other organizations such as Park Rangers, etc., and it contains many statistics and tidbits of information that make the book very informative. The narration is somewhat bland and straightforward, as is to be expected in a book like this, but it doesn't make you lose interest. If you like this type or genre of book, it's worth checking out!

This story is extremely entertaining. The current performer and comedian delivers a very funny, unique, and unusual account of his life and experiences growing up in South Africa. Noah truly has a way with words, as his descriptions of apartheid, his mother and her dangerous and untrustworthy array of boyfriends and ex-husbands, and his overall description of both life in South Africa as well as his quirky character, keeps the reader engaged and entertained throughout. His unique perspective is definitely not one that is common, especially not here in the US, so I definitely would recommend that anyone who likes being entertained and learning new ideas and perspectives on life, would love this. It's right up there with "Greenlights" by Matthew McConaghey, another great audiobook! Don't miss it!

This book was extremely enlightening and entertaining! If you're a Federer fan, a tennis fan, or just a sports fan in general, you will definitely enjoy this book! The author is a professional sportswriter who followed RF's career from the earliest days through to his most recent matches in his 40's. He details many different chapters of Roger's life and career, and uncovers many new tidbits of interviews, information, and never-heard-before snipits and soundbites that make for a fascinating portrait of the tennis guru's amazing journey. There is great information about other tennis starts as well, such as Sampras, Agassi, Nadal and Djokovic, and you get a wonderful perspective of Federer's entire evolution as a young man, a dominant professional on the rise, and ultimately a seasoned veteran and superstar. This book is amazing and is not to be missed!

Different for Grisham, but quite enjoyable!

This book is a bit of a departure from Grisham's earlier crime and law dramas, although he does manage to work in some legal ramifications relating to the book publishing industry. But for the most part the book is character-driven, and follows a linear storyline, and the narrator does a great job portraying the different accents, attitudes, and idiosyncrasies of the many diverse characters in the novel. The mystery, suspense and intrigue factor rates highly in my opinion, mostly because Grisham's plots are never boring or typical. His imagination comes pouring through in his writing, and I think most lovers of his work, and crime dramas in general, will get a lot of pleasure from this crime drama, which contains many twists, turns, and unexpected reveals! Enjoy them and enjoy the book!
