Excellent Resource

Great material and narration. Succinct delivery of pertinent topics will allow to listen multiple times. Refreshingly unrepetitive. I was wary of the book appearing to be too short but it is all the most useful information without padding.

Historia
Bullying and abuse are at the source of much misery in our lives. Because we are not taught about our brains, let alone how much they are impacted by bullying and abuse, we do not have a way to avoid this misery, heal our scars, or restore our health. In The Bullied Brain, listeners learn about the evidence doctors, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and neuroscientists have gathered, that shows the harm done by bullying and abuse to your brain, and how you can be empowered to protect yourself and all others.

Terrible Narration. Bait and Switch. Anecdotal.
Revisado: 05-02-23
The sample had a different narrator than the rest of the book. The author reads so slow and pauses so long that I gradually increased the speed rate to 2.5 and just gave up. Painfully stilted narration. Like a robot malfunctioning. I have listened to similar scientific authors on fast speed because sometimes the substance makes up for the delivery. Not this time. The chapters are anecdotal, at best, and the science she sites from another author’s work. Wish I would have bought that one instead. Save your money.

Auto Narration but Great Content
Revisado: 09-28-22
I think the book used an auto narrator to compensate for an accent or English as a 2nd language. Increasing the speed in your audible settings to 1.5 helps. That said, it has great content. Worth sticking with the bot. I probably will buy the paperback version.

Historia
The Covert Passive Aggressive Narcissist: Finding Healing After Hidden Emotional and Psychological Abuse is the most comprehensive and helpful audiobook on the topic of covert narcissism. This type of narcissism is one of the most damaging forms because the abuse is so hidden and so insidious. You can be in a relationship that can last for decades and not realize you are being psychologically and emotionally controlled, manipulated, and abused.

Narration Painfully Slow; Anecdotal Evidence Problematic
Revisado: 06-17-22
I'm kind of mad I paid a credit for this. It should be in the free library. I wish I could return it. First, the narrator pauses after every few words and read so slow that I had to keep creeping up the speed setting. I tapped out by Chapter 18 when the speed up over 2.3 (normal is 1.0) just made the excess pauses more obvious. It's like listening to a junior high speech that only has content for 2 minutes be dragged out for 10. Also, the author isn't a clinician but markets the book like one. I started noticing problems in her anecdotal evidence in the chapter on sex. The rest was a personal account of her own divorce and affirmations for the reader. There's nothing wrong with sharing your own experience, strength, and hope. Just don't advertise it as a clinical tool. It's dangerous, quite frankly, as some of the "CN"s sounded like normal people stuck together in bad relationships. Toxic situations breed toxic reactions. I'm sure most truly are experiencing narcissistic abuse but the material should be edited to avoid misuse and mislabeling by people who have no clinical experience.
