Maybe it was the way it was read and/or maybe it was the way it jumped from one little story to the next, but I really didn't get into this book. However, the genre and topic of the book were right up my alley; and the content certainly wasn't boring.

What I love best is that it shows how there will always be people who see through unjust societal rules!
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This narrator is excellent. I will be looking to see what other performances she has done.

It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day". Good story, but hard to keep my attention span

Any additional comments?
I love historical stories and non-fiction. With this one, I'm really having a tough time following it! I have to really concentrate to keep up with what's going on. I'm not sure if its the way it's read, or the way it's written, or both. A lot of the lingo and pronunciation loses me! So far (I'm not finished yet), I definitely find the story to be interesting, and want to finish it. I may check to see if there are other readers to choose from.
