Historia
Nothing "goes viral". If you think a popular movie, song, or app came out of nowhere to become a word-of-mouth success in today's crowded media environment, you're missing the real story. Each blockbuster has a secret history - of power, influence, dark broadcasters, and passionate cults that turn some new products into cultural phenomena. In his groundbreaking investigation, Atlantic senior editor Derek Thompson uncovers the hidden psychology of why we like what we like.

Great resource for creatives striving for success!
Revisado: 09-10-18
As an educator, this book has been a great resource for motivating students to understand their audience and the history of 'hits'! I reference this book almost every day at the college where I teach— it's an important concept for creators who want to make great art AND want to connect with their niche (and, want to make money). Context (and familiarity) are essential in order to connect with others! Love this book!

Historia
In a culture that praises blending in over standing out, productivity over purpose, and noise over truth, many women find their God-given voice compromised, quieted, or even mocked. We all long to live out our divinely designed passions and unique talents, yet too often it becomes so much easier in the face of opposition to stay silent altogether. What if God is calling you to so much more? As a working mom, wife, artist, and abolitionist, Natalie Grant has struggled to live on purpose while battling the worldly demands of keeping up the appearance of perfection.

Meh. Underwhelming. Not enough story.

Any additional comments?
As a musician I really wanted to like this book. It was chosen by a member of my book club as last month's read. I love Natalie Grant's passion for charity work and think her singing voice is lovely but this book quickly turned from story to self-help, and didn't contain material that was new or interesting to me. My husband walked into the room while I was listening to it and asked, "how do you feel about this book?" I replied, "it's underwhelming" and he said, "I can tell just from the few minutes I've heard". I wouldn't recommend it and plan on returning it.
