I very much enjoyed The Boy from the Mish by Gary Lonesborough. The narration by Meyne Wyatt was very on point, making Jackson’s thoughts and emotions feel so real and relatable. His journey of self-discovery, set in a small Australian community, was both touching and eye-opening. I loved how the story explored family, friendship, and first love in such an honest and heartfelt way. The writing was simple yet powerful, pulling me into Jackson’s world and making me truly care about his struggles and triumphs. If you’re looking for a beautifully told LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story, I highly recommend this one!

Love this romance novel, thanks to its engaging characters and fast-paced plot. The story centers around Jory Keyes, a charming, carefree man who unwittingly becomes embroiled in a dangerous situation and Detective Sam Kage, who is initially reluctant but eventually falls for Jory.

The novel has strong character development, witty dialogue, and the chemistry between Jory and Sam is thrilling. Mary Calmes has created a vivid, emotional connection between the characters, and i enjoyed the mixture of humor, romance, and suspense, which keeps the story moving.

However, the voice acting leaves much to be desired. While I appreciate the narration, the voice actor’s delivery doesn’t fully capture the essence of the characters, particularly Jory’s vibrant personality and Sam’s tough, brooding nature. So may I suggest that the book be re-recorded with a different voice actor who might better convey the distinct voices and emotional nuances...?

If re-recorded, a narrator who can provide better distinction between characters and bring more energy to Jory’s lively, cheeky persona could elevate the audiobook experience further. It would also enhance the romantic tension and emotional depth, which are central to the novel’s appeal. Could Finn Sterling do it please? He did "But for You" and I found his voice to be a good match to bring Jory's character to audio life. Or my personal favorite Greg Tremblay, who did Woods of the Raven so well.
