Historia
Princess Maren is a woman with a secret. Ten years ago she sold her soul to the sea witch Edonia, giving up a life underwater in exchange for the love of Prince Aerik on land. But after a decade of abuse and misery inflicted by the cruel prince, Maren wants nothing more than to reverse the spell. An opportunity for escape presents itself when the prince and princess are traveling overseas and are taken hostage by a band of notorious pirates, led by the fearsome Captain Ramsay "Bones" Battista.

Fantastic remake!
Revisado: 03-10-25
An enjoyable remake about a mermaid giving up her tail for a prince. The prince turns into a monster and the legged mermaid has become a scared and weak princess until she's taken hostage by a the crew of a pirate ship. I enjoyed the gory story and the narration. There are several sex scenes, not my thing but it's a plus for those who are.

Historia
Grim Wolds, England: Winifred Notty arrives at Ensor House prepared to play the perfect governess—she’ll dutifully tutor her charges, Drusilla and Andrew, tell them bedtime stories, and only joke about eating children. But long, listless days spent within the estate’s dreary confines come with an intimate knowledge of the perversions and pathetic preoccupations of the Pounds family—Mr. Pounds can’t keep his eyes off Winifred’s chest, and Mrs. Pounds takes a sickly pleasure in punishing Winifred for her husband’s wandering gaze.

The most fun since I read Mary by Nat Cassidy
Revisado: 03-06-25
I've been looking for a book that compares to Mary by Nat Cassidy. It's comparable in it's female brutality and humor. The story line and characters are different but it has the same appeal. This story is like a fever dream you might have after reading Sense and Sensibility, I loved it. The book and narration is perfection!

Historia
Ruby Young's new Boston apartment comes with all the usual perks. Windows facing the brick wall of the next-door building. Heat that barely works. A malfunctioning buzzer. Noisy neighbors. A dead body on the sidewalk outside. And of course, a ghost. Since Cordelia Graves died in her apartment a few months ago, she's kept up her residency, despite being bored out of her (non-tangible) skull and frustrated by her new roommate. When her across-the-hall neighbor, Jake Macintyre, is shot and killed in an apparent mugging gone wrong outside their building, Cordelia is convinced there’s more to it.

What a fun book!
Revisado: 03-02-25
I bought this yesterday when it was an Audible daily deal and it turned out to be a fantastic buy. It's a ghost story/mystery. It has a good story line with likable characters and I was drawn into the story quickly. I enjoyed the narrators performance. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

What an ending!
Revisado: 10-05-24
This is silly but I didn't realize that this was a retelling of Frankenstein from Elizabeth's perspective when I purchased it. It's been more than thirty years since I read Frankenstein and didn't even remember Elizabeth in the book until after I started listening to this story. I bought it when it was on sale and didn't really look into what it was. I appreciate Mary Shelley's amazing creation but loved this retelling even more. I think that Mary Shelley would have loved this book and it's fantastic ending.

Sara is on my last nerve
Revisado: 09-26-24
I can't be the only one who is tired of Sara and the Way she acts like a petulant child. She is a drama queen who doesn't understand that undercover means she can't be told the who what and where information. I know that people dislike Lena but she's not near as pathetic as Sara.
This series is making me feel like my mom in the 80's when watching her soaps on ABC. I'm upset about characters lol

Deviating and beautiful
Revisado: 07-19-24
I preorder this book but waited almost a month to listen to it because I knew that I wouldn't get another Christopher Buehlman book for a while. It's an odd thing to do but I absolutely love everything he's written and have listened to all of his books several times. I went into this book thinking it would be like The Blacktongue Thief and it didn't have the same tone of emotion, unlike Blacktongue Thief's humor it was full of dread and heartbreak. It was different but an amazing tale and I know I'll listen to it several times, just as I have all of his other books.

A wonderful collection of short stories
Revisado: 07-02-24
I have to read (listen to) a collection of good short stories after finishing a great novel or series. I need time to mourn the loss of those characters before I move onto a new book. This book was perfect for that. There are several great shorts that were spooky and interesting and the narrator were wonderful.
