Historia
There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. The first item on his to-do list: Spending his newfound windfall. On an urge to splurge, he signs up to have his head cryogenically preserved in case of death. Then he gets himself killed crossing the street. Waking up 117 years later, Bob discovers his mind has been uploaded into a sentient space probe with the ability to replicate itself.

incredible! pure charm
Revisado: 01-10-24
after a rockey start, this book quickly becomes an incredible work of science fiction with a great concept excellently executed. On top of that, the character writing is stellar with each person oozing with charm and personality. Immediately one of my highest recommended scifi books.

Africa may have given rise to the first human beings, and Egypt probably gave rise to the first great civilizations, which continue to fascinate modern societies across the globe nearly 5,000 years later.

informative if not a little too dense

very interesting with lots of information, but at times too much information is cramed into a small section. reads like a textbook. the chapter breakdown seems very odd with some being 2 minutes and others 30.

Historia
The Great Game between Victorian Britain and Tsarist Russia was fought across desolate terrain from the Caucasus to China, over the lonely passes of the Parmirs and Karakorams, in the blazing Kerman and Helmund deserts, and through the caravan towns of the old Silk Road - both powers scrambling to control access to the riches of India and the East. When play first began, the frontiers of Russia and British India lay 2000 miles apart; by the end, this distance had shrunk to 20 miles at some points.

Incredible, engaging, and informative
Revisado: 12-11-23
This book is as close as you can get to a perfect work on history. It is incredibly informative and its narrative format keeps it from ever feeling dry. I have no complaints and have retained more from this book than I have almost any other work of history I have read.

Historia
Virus of the Mind is the first popular work devoted to the science of memetics, a controversial new field that transcends psychology, biology, anthropology, and cognitive science. Memetics is the science of memes, the invisible but very real DNA of human society. Here, the author carefully builds on the work of scientists Richard Dawkins, Douglas Hofstadter, Daniel Dennett, and others who have become fascinated with memes and their potential impact on our lives.

Not a theory book
Revisado: 02-03-23
If you are looking for a book on the theory of memetics there are better options. specifically, the Meme Machine by Susan Blackmore. This is much more of a self-help sort of book.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Awestruck
Revisado: 06-03-19
The performances for each of the characters are flawless. They convey the voice each character is written in perfectly. the story itself was what truly surprised me, as it is a very well told and exciting despite its age. Highly recommend giving this one a read.
