Historia
After miraculously surviving a near-fatal brainstem stroke at age 26, as told in their memoir, Hope Heals, life for Katherine and Jay Wolf changed forever - and so did the way they viewed God, the world, and themselves in it. There was no going back to normal after such a tragedy. Yet Katherine and Jay learned that suffering is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new story. In Suffer Strong, they invite us into this new story as they share universal lessons and helpful practices.

Words can't describe how impactful this book has been for me. It would be a wonderful book for men, women, or couples to read/listen to. I listened to the audio book and love hearing the personalities and emotions of the authors, but now I want the print book so I can easily use it for reference or even share with others.

Historia
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Different kind of story
Revisado: 08-13-22
As someone who enjoys writing, I found this book about a writer with writer's block very understandable and engaging. January faces her grief, some tough situations, and a little romance (you know, life) making the words flow for her again. I loved it.

Eva - known to all as Lovey - grew up safe and secure in Oxford, Mississippi, surrounded by a rich literary history and her mother's stunning flower gardens. But a shed fire, and the injuries that it caused, seemed to change everything...especially when her older sister, Bitsy, blamed Lovey for the irreparable damage. Bitsy became the cheerleader. The homecoming queen. All the while, Lovey served as the family scapegoat, always bearing the brunt when Bitsy threw blame her way. At 18, Lovey fled to Arizona. In time, she became a successful advertising executive....

Historia
Still living in the same white farmhouse where she grew up, Curry watched those closest to her leave - her parents by tragic death, her husband to war, and her best friend, Tom, who walked away because he couldn't deal with being left alive. Then one day, without warning, Tom returns. Curry appears as down to earth as she ever was, but her survival has come at a cost, and now it's up to Tom to help Curry reopen her heart to life's joy.

Worth a try
Revisado: 02-03-22
I liked the story. It was unique, keeping my interest. The narration was so slow I had to speed it up by +1.25 and her voice took some getting used to. After about half the book, i realized some of the verbiage was just the characters' thoughts, not talking. A bit frustrating. Since it was included in my Audible subscription, and I'm an audiobook addict, I'd say it was worth a try for free. But if i had paid for it, i may have requested a refund. Hope this helps you decide.

Historia
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

I liked it. Good for a chuckle.
Revisado: 08-08-21
This book was an easy listen with a good chuckle here and there. Maybe its just me, but confused and sarcastic Mallory was relatable. Story was a bit predictable, but I liked it. This narrator was new for me, but she did great and I'd listen to her again. Hoping for a second book in the series.

Historia
When Hannah Montgomery buys a lavender farm in Blue Hollow Falls with three friends, she's creating a life she never imagined - one she hopes will honor the memory of the sweet young son she tragically lost years ago. Standing on the porch of the sprawling farmhouse, looking out on row upon row of those lush purple plumes, Hannah is ready to embrace this fresh, new start.... Then she meets Wilson McCall. The stonemason hired to fix their crumbling chimneys and leaky roof is quieter than most folks in the Falls. Hannah's not surprised to learn the widower struggles with his own grief.

Historia
Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall.

Brene Brown is just like you and me. Her studies are profound. If you have read her other books like Power of Vulnerability and Daring Greatly, and you want to put her words in to practice, then you need this one too. Then read The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins. Then go live your life.

Sweet, romantic, relatable. Narrator needs coffee.
Revisado: 06-11-20
After losing my mom and having distance from my sibling, the story felt very relatable. I loved all the wonderfully descriptive food references. I would love to read a sequel to the story of both sisters and their individual lives. (The narrator was lovely, however a few times it sounded as though she would fall asleep. She was very subdued. Occasionally i found it difficult to decipher the character because the voices sounded so similar.)
