Great Storyline, fantastic narration
Revisado: 04-13-24
I like this novella format from the author; she’s my fave author right now. And the narration is top notch.

Historia
Investigating the discovery of the body, Sergeant Holly Rudd knows she’s an unwelcome presence in the close-knit community of Bamfield. But she doesn’t expect the residents to be spooked by the mere sight of her. What rattles Holly even more, though, is her overwhelming desire for diver and former Special Forces soldier Finn Carver. Finn has no doubt that the corpse he found while diving was a victim of foul play - just as there’s no doubt that he wants Holly.

Good story, not quite right narration
Revisado: 04-03-24
Good storyline, but struggled with tone and range of male voices from this particular narrator. They all sounded really gruff and angry, even when not needing to.

Gaslighting, manipulation, and learned helplessness!
Revisado: 05-10-21
While the premise of the story is cute, the portrayal of the male characters as helpless, incapable people was my first indication of some serious gendered stereotypes at play. Then the story culminates with what can only be described as a series of gaslighting, manipulation, and a protagonist who goes from strong to spineless in one chapter. I recognize the genre, but this was just painful.

Historia
I'm one of four Willow daughters. He's the first-born son of the Scafoni family. And we have history. For generations, the Scafoni family have demanded a sacrifice of us. A virgin daughter to atone for sins so old that we don't even remember what they are anymore. But when you have as much money as they do, you don't play by the rules. You make them. And Sebastian Scafoni makes all the rules. The moment I saw him, I knew he would choose me. Even though the mark on my sheath declared me unclean. He made me his. And then he set out to break me.

Storyline decent, but plagued by audio issues
Revisado: 05-15-19
A new genre for me, the dark storyline keeps the reader engaged, with good character dimension and dialogue. However, the audio quality of this recording is unbalanced. Female narrator’s voice is clear and has good intonation, while the male narrator’s audio recording sounds muffled and overall lower in volume. Additionally, his speech seems forced, almost growling (but ALL the time), with insufficient inflection in tone to bring the character’s dialogue to life. Almost returned it in the first 10 minutes; had hoped book 2 showed improvement, but doesn’t sound like it.
