Historia
It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

Amazing story, needs more production
Revisado: 02-16-24
First things first this book is amazing, I kind of wish I would have listened before watching the movie however being that I watched the movie first, I actually feel like I didn’t learnt a whole lot more reading it.. just a few tidbits here are there about characters.
However
Unfortunately Most of the reviews you see here about the narrator are true. Being a die hard fan of Star Wars novels, especially the high republic series, I fell in love with the passion and voices Narrator Marc Thompson brings to the stories. That along with the sound design and score, you are truly transported to another world.
With the book and movie being all about songs, there wasn’t a single tune, rhythm or melody to be found. Instead for the songs you get an extremely monotone, passionless poem like performance. Even “The hanging tree” where there’s already been such an established melody from the OT gets the same treatment. I found myself constantly cringing/wanting to fast forward through all of it

Star Wars at its best.. AGAIN
Revisado: 12-17-23
I have been following the high republic since Light of the Jedi and this book has got to be one of the best in the series and a true return to form.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, Marc Thompson is THE voice of Star Wars.
I wouldn’t want anyone else to narrate.

Truly amazing
Revisado: 01-13-23
What a wonderful action packed story !
The perfect culmination of Path of deceit and Cataclysm.
Granted cataclysm was not my favorite book, this one takes place about right after and you will need the basic story to understand this one .
He full cast did an amazing job but my personal feedback, I thought there was a little too much “flirting” or “awkward laughter” in the dialogue.
But just like with Tempest Runner, each character has their own individual voice and it was truly entertaining hearing everyone’s separate stories.
Just wish it was longer for being one of the mail installments

Historia
It is an age of exploration. Jedi travel the galaxy, expanding their understanding of the Force and all the worlds and beings connected by it. Meanwhile, the Republic, led by its two chancellors, works to unite worlds in an ever-growing community among near and distant stars. On the close-orbiting planets of Eiram and E’ronoh, the growing pains of a galaxy with limited resources but unlimited ambition are felt keenly. The two worlds’ hatred for each other has fueled half a decade of escalating conflict and now threatens to consume surrounding systems.

Not the strongest story but still excited for more (slight spoiler for path of deceit)
Revisado: 11-29-22
Unfortunately like another review, I have to agree that this is one of the more weaker stories in the high republic. Maybe a bit more than “Midnight Horizon”
Path of deceit was amazing on all fronts. marchions ancestors , the path of the open hand, it felt different yet kept me hooked.
CONS
Despite Marc Thompson always masterful narration (spoiler he kills it here too) I found myself struggling to follow along and almost care.. A lot of the characters aren’t likable, we barely follow any Jedi.. for the longest time it just feels like nothing is really happening… the part that bugged me the most was after hours in .. I still didn’t know who the antagonist was.
And it was a little weird hearing Marc Thompson do the mothers voice after the amazing job Erin Yvette did
PROS
Despite the cons.. The story world in interesting being that these particular planets end up where starlight beacon is stations. The worlds/cultures themselves are very interesting and I am curious to learn more about them.
Marc Thompson delivers another masterful performance. It’s just too bad the characters here don’t allow him to come close to the performance of marchion ro or Loden greatstorm
Overall if you are a fan of the series and don’t want to miss out I would give it a listen. The previous novels just set the bar really high and unfortunately this one fall a little short.
I’m sure the author put a tremendous amount of work into this story and nothing but love and respect to them. 🙏🏽

Amazing but short
Revisado: 10-29-22
If you were a fan of the last high republic books then you will love this one.. the characters and story are throughly entertaining with the masterful VO work of Erin Yvette keeping me immersed with every role . I was surprised to hear the end credit music playing after not even 40 chapters but all this has done was leave me wanting more
