Everyone always focusses on the strengths of personalities or communication types. Thomas does not camp out in the positive. He gets very direct with why people suck and why you suck as a human. I'm not going to lie, when he started talking about Yellows I got offended and pissed off about his negative explanation of how Yellows act. It felt like a death sentence. He wasn't completely wrong, but it seemed biased based on his own perception those types. Read at your own risk, if you're paying attention it might hurt a little. He makes really aggressive statements about Red's, making them all look like outright @$$ holes across the board. He basically says Yellows are too stupid to form a clear thought of their own that isn't wrapped in sunshine and they will always be late to everything. He says Greens are forever lazy pushovers who will not amount to anything in life. If you want to know the worst parts of each color you can use this book as ammunition to grow more and more angry with other types and become fearfully insecure about your own communication style. The odd thing is; I'm probably going to keep the book and listen to it 10 more times because I can learn to teach people grace and patience from all the aggressive rhetoric.

The dumbest book ever… first 5 chapters “I’m a drunk loser” all the other chapter, “make life hurt on purpose”. Don’t forget to isolate yourself and live in a vacuum of your own personal success. This book is horrible.

Even though it will not give specific details about exactly how to do things. This book is full of wonderful stories and ideas about how to be excellent! I loved every minute of it.

I'm a Director of Sales Enablement and I think Peter does a great job outlining the core principles of discovery that are actionable today. I listened to it twice on Audible in 1 week. He really packed a lot of useful information in those (digital) pages. I love the seven levels of discovery. I think it helps people take an accurate assessment of their skill level. We are not as good as we think we are. Great work Peter!

There is nothing here except for a bunch of scenarios. What if this happens, what if this happens, what if this happens? There’s other books out there on communication that are much better. If you listen to this book closely enough and apply what it says you will end up never let anybody speak truth into your life. You will end up never receiving constructive feedback that is helpful. You will end up creating so many walls around you that you will self-destruct in an inferno of your own unchangeable shortcomings. The author is simply encouraging people with a chip on their shoulders to keep on acting the way they do and create a wall around themselves so nobody can influence them. There is no humility here at all.

He use the title of Mastery to highlight his ideals about darwinism and anti-religious sentiment. Good nuggets on mastery but strayed off-topic severely for what seems like no reason. Seemed like he ran out of material and decided to tell stories about people in history who reinforce his worldview. Bringing up these historical figures is not all and all bad, but has nothing to do with mastery

This book has no real content. It talks a lot about other books you should be reading and other people who take good notes. There are zero actionable items in How to Take Good Notes.
