I loved Thatcher, but Reagan was a little annoying where Thatcher was concerned. The entire story Reagan makes wildly inaccurate assumptions that Thatcher always corrects, but he never learns from it. There was no progression. I understand overthinking as much as anyone, but this was just willful ignorance. Reagan any other time was great. Even liked Reagan with Thatcher from Thatchers point of view, but being in Reagan’s head while in angst was a little rough.

Sweet friends to lovers story

The romance aspect of the story was sweet and right down my alley, but the author could have done more research. Dean is written as a doctor, but to be a doctor in the military you have to be an officer and it was stated that they were both enlisted. Also, double shifts are not a thing in the military. Working longer shifts occur in special circumstance like being deployed and you can also be called in on standby or weekend duty, but you’ll never be scheduled to work consecutive shifts. Most medical clinics are only open 0800-1600 and don’t have consecutive shifts.

Then there is the multiple medical check ups in a short time frame. Those aren’t a thing in the military either and striping down definitely isn’t. Sloan had been on station for 8 months and supposedly had multiple check ups. In 6 years the only time I went to medical was when immunizations were due, change of station, injuries/illnesses, or the annual check-up. The only time I had to strip down was during my physical before boot camp and once during. There are also no assigned partners for the duration of boot camp and change of diet isn’t a standard check-up question.

Most people won’t notice these mistakes so if you’re unaware or can look past them, it’s a good listen.

The story was short and sweet, but this might be the last book I read by the author. This is the second book in a row one of her heroes kept saying the other was straight even after they had sex. Not only would that never happen, it also makes no sense. Especially during the other guys love/like confession. Most of all, they wouldn’t keep saying the other guy is straight when the other guy has already admitted to not being as straight as everyone thought.

“You were trying to help me find a boyfriend, why would I think it’s anything else?” Maybe because Knight did absolutely nothing the night before to make you think that, Owen. Maybe because Knight flat out said that he wanted a lot more. A surprise meeting with an older brother shouldn’t be enough to make him forget that.

On a better note, I thought the argument between Knight and his best friend was believable. I was expecting a huge blow up because the older brother won’t listen to reason and was pleasantly surprised when it never came. Knight’s reasonable thinking in general was a nice change of pace. How did worry about what other’s think, mainly his best friend and the older brother of the Owen, because he knew it wasn’t anyone else’s

Tear Jerker (Spoilers)

When I say this book had me in tears I mean I was bawling. It gives hope to someone in a very dark place. Hope that one day the hurt will fade and we will be able to say “I’ve made it”. I’ve made it through the endless the storm and I can finally breathe again. The way the author capture this moment at the end was truly beautiful. The only thing I was hoping for was to go deeper into the legal dispute and the drama that comes along with it. Perhaps that could have dragged it on, but I think the moment the guilty verdict was given and Victor got to watch his own personal boogeyman be taken away for a very long time could have been a powerful one. Still an amazing listen, the narrators did great as well.

Self-sacrificing trope doesn’t make sense (SPOILERS)

I was really enjoying the story up until Evan decided the right thing to do was walk away. Even if Ben had a great life with his family, it wouldn’t make any sense for Evan to walk away from the thing that makes the both of them happy. But Ben hated his life and Evan knew that, so walking away just meant sentences Ben to a life a misery. I think the author was trying to show how honorable Evan was, as well as give the story a twist, but in actuality it just showed his idiocy. There’s nothing honorable about taking away both of their happiness. It ruined his character and anyone with half a brain would’ve realized walking away would do the opposite of protecting Ben. Like I said before, if Ben loved his life before Evan, then what Evan did would have at least made sense. He didn’t though and sending Ben back to a life I hated is completely illogical and certain not love.

What am I hearing?

I read the book before and I enjoyed it so I decided to try out the audio book as well. I'm honestly horrified by the reader. Was that supposed to be sexy? And the accents, dear lord. The women he tried to portray just sounded like a mentally challenged person and I hope that doesnt sound disrespectful. I got 15 minutes in and couldn't take anymore.
