I used to love this story when I was younger. Of course the plot is, as so many people have mentioned, very contrived, but Dan Stevens really did a fantastic job in the reading of it using multiple voices and never once going over the top. This one is a keeper… both for old times sakes, and for the the pleasure of being able to listen to different parts at whim

Okay... so there are many Neil Gaiman books that jostle for first place as far as I am concerned. But this one might just edge out all others because it's balance between originality and allusiveness is so perfect. And the fact that the inspiration and allusion are to Rudyard Kipling's <i>The Jungle Book</i> (which as, Gaiman says, should be read in the original and not just watched as a the Disney film) is icing on cake. It's fun too, to figure out how the various characters in <i>Graveyard</i> map on to the various figures in <i>The Jungle Book</i>. I've written a fuller review of the book on the Goodreads site but will leave this one short and sweet.

This may be the Neil Gaiman book to start with! For everyone. I may have come to it late after many others, but I think this just the right balance between whimsical, creepy/scary, and ultimately uplifiting without being in the slightest bit moralistic. And that's just the story & writing. The reading by Gaiman himself takes it to a whole new level, with voices, songs etc that make us experience it the way he imagined it. Stardust was good but this is the one that was truly stellar.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Poets' Corner to be better than the print version?

I do not have a print version of The Poet's Corner.

What other book might you compare The Poets' Corner to and why?

The closest things I can think of are "She walks in beauty" and another anthology that grouped poems thematically by the seven ages of man (as per the Bard). But I liked this one better because it was personal

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't point out any single one... it depends completely on my mood or state of mind

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The reading of and commentary around Dylan Thomas' "Do not go gently."

Any additional comments?

Most of the questions asked here are not really fitting for the type of book this one is... It is not a story but an anthology of poetry, selected and commented upon by John Lithgow. I really liked both the information he offered about each poet and his insights into both specific poems and bodies of work on the whole.
