Amazing! Life changing book
Revisado: 12-12-22
I highly recommend this book. There were parts that were hard to listen to while multi-tasking as the book has numerous deep thoughts and insights. I wasn’t able to give it undivided focus, but am glad I made it though the parts that were harder to maintain momentum with. I will refer back to this book and share lessons I have learned with friends and my partner.

Parents and family members who never thought they could get inside the head of their autistic loved one at last have a way to break through to the curious, subtle, and complex life within.

Incredible! A elipse into the mind of a non-verbal 13 year old boy.
Revisado: 11-23-22
I devoured this book. I just kept thinking about how the author wrote the book by pointing to Japanese letters on a board. The complexity of thought is stunning. It is a glimpse into the mind of a person who I never would have been able to communicate with if I met him in person. I just finished it and have already recommended the book to several people.
I highly recommend this book!

Anne Lamott meets Elizabeth Gilbert in this inspirational, side-splittingly funny exploration of the power of living with love, forgiveness, and honesty. Glennon Melton became a sensation when her personal essays started going viral. Giving language to our universal (yet often secret) experiences, her hilarious and poignant observations were read by millions, shared among friends, discussed at water coolers, quoted in The New York Times, and have inspired a social movement.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

I l couldn’t put it down and anxiously await her next book!

Insightful! Relatable, honest, a new perspective on the value of inner mothering
Revisado: 06-20-22
I do not identify as having disordered eating, but I am working through my relationship with food. This book came highly recommended by another student of my online inner mothering course taught by Bethany Webster. My friend who identifies as having disordered eating and has done a lot of work around it read the book twice very quickly when I told her about it. She is an ER doctor and said she had read lots of scientific books about eating disorders, she had also done a support group, and she said she got a completely new perspective from this book and thought I would love it. My sister and aunt have disordered eating, so I thought at a minimum it would help me better understand them.
I related to almost everything in the book! I got so many insights for my own life. I am highly recommending this book to friends and family.

Wow! What a fabulously healing book.
Revisado: 03-23-22
One of the best books I have read related to pregnancy, birth and parenting! I had it reccomended to me by numerous providers when I was post partum with our son, going through a postpartum journey similar to the one Kimberly describes going through. At the time, I was in a place where I was feeling a need to act on every suggestion and exercise that came my way. I wasn’t ready for this book.
Now that I am 6 months post partum with our second, I felt that I was “through the woods” and could finally reflect on the journey. This book was so healing; it helped me honor my journey and had excellent practical ideas.
Looking back, it would have been reassuring to have read it before having my babies and going through the post partum period.
I highly recommend this book for anyone thinking of having a baby, pregnant, post partum, people having had a baby and those looking to heal around this critical time, even decades after having their children. I wish this book were required reading for everyone providing support to women who have had a baby in the last year. OBGYN, post partum doulas, midwives, osteopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists, therapists and everyone who works with post partum women can greatly benefit from listening to this book!
