This was an interesting take on war relations between captors and captives on Guernsey Island. It was really interesting to watch the dynamics of the three women as well as their paramours. It definitely had the air of the Guernsey literary & potato peel pie society while being written more in a novel format than a letter format. But it was really nice to see how their interactions led to the story. The story itself was well written… It was a bit predictable, but I did enjoy the different angles that the writer took.

The story created a great picture of the time in which it took place (across the years). There were some fun twists and turns and it was interesting to see how the story built between Martha, Henry, and Opaline.

I learned a lot about the Berlin wall and the happenings around this long-standing event. I had never really had much exposure into this piece of history so it was very enlightening. Love the readers!!

I liked this book. I sped up the reader but she did a fantastic job with the voices and the story. I liked the blend of the characters and the weaving of the chapters together. Well done.

A breakdown of the gods

Stephen Fry did a fantastic job breaking down the Greek myths and relating the story of the gods. I really enjoyed the dialogue he would add into the stories and the notes about where there are variations or dualities. One of my favorite aspects was that he would break down the latin roots of the gods and explain what they connected to in todays world. Or why something is named thus - as in the honey bee being “wedding wings”. I would have liked to get more into the heros but I realize that is a completely different book. Based on this one, I will definitely be continuing with this series.

Hands down amazing

This was so well written and presented. I loved Circe and following her journey throughout the ages. The Greek mythology aspect is so well done but it was nice to see the slight variations in this tale as opposed to Homers. Madeline Miller has such a talent with writing these books and between this and Song of Achilles, I will always remember my Greek myths this way!

This book was well written and the performance was wonderful. I loved the narrator and her perspective on a crime that she was not present for. Very good twists. The ending was not what I expected or really was hoping for, but I think that made the book more honest and real. Well done!
