Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Deliciously satisfying
Revisado: 07-10-22
Especially to women of a certain age, this story tells a familiar tale in a very offbeat and engaging manner. Using the social constructs of science, organized religion and the entertainment industry against the sexism of the early 1960s the story is familiar yet surprising, fascinating and profoundly entertaining.
I couldn’t put it down!

Historia
There are many watchers and they are always white. That’s the first thing Echo notices as she settles into Dartmouth College. Despite graduating high school in Cleveland as valedictorian, Echo immediately struggles to keep up in demanding classes. Dartmouth made many promises it couldn't keep. The campus is not a rainbow-colored utopia where education lifts every voice. Nor is it a paradise of ideas, an incubator of inclusivity, or even an exciting dating scene.

Supernatural elements
Revisado: 01-23-22
I enjoyed the story and connected to the author as she faced the numerous challenges of a poor black girl in an Ivy League college.
I did not connect with the words or sound effects while she explored other realities during counseling or traumatic events - but I can see how it might be valuable for someone else depending on where your life has taken you.

Beautifully written

Loved the way the author crafted the descriptions of images and events. I enjoyed feeling like I was looking into a window of the 1500s .
The story did not have enough going for it however- the ending was abrupt and unsatisfying.

Historia
Dish up the red meat, eggs, and whole milk! In this well-researched and captivating narrative, veteran food writer Nina Teicholz proves how everything we've been told about fat is wrong. For decades, Americans have cut back on red meat and dairy products full of "bad" saturated fats. We obediently complied with nutritional guidelines to eat "heart healthy" fats found in olive oil, fish, and nuts, and followed a Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits, vegetables, and grains. Yet the nation's health has declined. What is going on?

Very informative
Revisado: 05-28-16
Well documented, and rich with explanations of key events that has lead our country down this path to obesity and chronic disease. This book is a life changer! Recommended to anyone who is curious about how the types of food we are advised to eat by our government and national medical organizations is determined not by scientific evidence, but by politics, influence, and big money.
