I have had this issue before with the lady narrating the book. It takes me about half to three-quarters of the story before I get used to her voice. It sounds very robotic. She is excellent at character voices but she just doesn't sound like she's interested in the story. As for the story, it is excellent! It's almost as if it was taking directly from someone's life. The storyline is very realistic and could happen to anyone. Adoption is never an easy issue and teen years are always hard. Sharon Srock has made this story believable, interesting, and gives each character such compassion. I want friends like Charley's! it always fascinates me how Sharon Srock takes a simple scripture and gives it such deep meaning within her story lines. Basically if we follow scripture, while our problems won't disappear they will certainly be easier to handle. Just listen to that small quiet voice of God. Sometimes we get so involved in the situation that we forget to sit back, be quiet and pray,

While the romance of the main characters was sweet I was fascinated by the idea of self sufficiency with food. I think the words used were food security. With everything going on in our world today this subject really hits home. Using our resources intelligently and planning for a more secure future. The story weaves strong Christian values and the temptations of relationships.

I loved this story!! Mac, short for Mackenzie, has escaped the cult group known as The Body. She is now an independent business owner responsible for her son and mother. However acclimating to the outside world is a challenge. Her son Riley appears to be in trouble at every turn. Her mother is extremely unhappy and has no hesitation letting Mac know. What Mac needs is friends and a new understanding of Christ's love. In this wonderful story of forgiveness, faith and understanding Sharon's Srock has again helped me gain a closer walk with Christ. Friendship, family and church is what this book is about. I love how Srock uses scriptures to help someone understand a situation. I wish I had her ability to apply scriptures to everyday life. It seems so simple. Srock's stories are almost as good as a devotional! Again I did not enjoy the narrator. Her reading has a strange lilt that sounds automatic and robotic.

The Mercie Collection was definitely a surprise! Scotland ( isn't that a great name!) finds herself pregnant and thrown out of her home by her father. Even though she isn't really a Christian she finds herself in a Christian school and from there it's just a matter of following God's plan. But what exactly is His plan and how can she be sure she is doing the right thing? She knows she will keep her baby ( appropriately named Mercie) but how? She is 16 and homeless. I loved the twists and turns Srock kept throwing in the story. I listened to all three stories in a matter of days. If you need to be amazed at how God can guide us if we would only listen then dive into the Mercie Collection. The only criticism I can offer is the narration is painful to listen to. I finally got used to it but I didn't enjoy it. The narrator sounded like a cross between a robot and Forrest Gump. Usually I get involved with a story so that I feel like I'm a part of it. Not this time. I felt like someone was reading a story to me with very little expression except for an odd uplift at the end of each sentence. If a listener can get past the narrator the story is excellent.
