In The Pilgrim Hypothesis listeners are presented with a gripping new investigation by best-selling author and historian Timothy Ballard as he uncovers what the early colonists - a people who believed themselves to be the “New Israel” - may have known about their role in the restoration of the gospel. Delve into a complex history bridging the centuries and spanning the globe, as each clue leads to one compelling conclusion: history and scripture may be far more intertwined than you’ve ever realized.

Remarkable!
Revisado: 08-18-21
I have never read a more stirring, engaging, touching book. It was like the movie National Treasure, but in regards to the greatest treasure, God’s love and his covenants and promises and mercy for this who choose Him to be in their lives. This has become my most favorite book to compliment my scriptures and historical education. I’m so thankful for the author and those who helped bring the research and understandings to light. The reading of the book was excellent quality and engaging. I highly recommend it. It includes insights of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but shows how connected and deeply threaded it all is- our country, our faith. This book is for all faiths that believe in God and in His promises.

Historia
In the 18th century, when Europeans first came upon the giant mounds and earthworks dotting the North American landscape, they couldn't imagine that the Native Americans they came into contact with were capable of producing such advanced technology and masterful engineering. In fact, when President George Washington sent Rufus Putnam to survey land in southeastern Ohio, Putnam reported that he'd discovered an impressive walled earthwork complex, which was obviously the work of some long-forgotten ancient civilization.

The reading is dry, but the topic is fascinating to me and I enjoyed the neutral fact representation. I may like this book as a hard copy to refer and reference and see names and locations.

Historia
An exciting look at the real Jesus - wild, playful and provocative - from best-selling author John Eldredge. Jesus is the most vague, misrepresented figure in the history of the world. Is it possible to know and trust someone so ethereal and lofty? What is he really like? Beautiful Outlaw offers a look into the humanity of Jesus, dismantling all the religious nonsense and helping us understand who this man really was - on a personal level. Focusing on his compelling personality, best-selling author John Eldredge shows us the real Jesus - playful, wild and often scandalous.

Practical, real, and refreshing

His insights help remind us of how much we can relate to Christ and no one is out of his reach, unless we don’t want to be in his reach. He also gives great examples and instructions on how to let Christ help us recognize misbeliefs, heal our pain and gain new perspectives.

Brilliant
Revisado: 05-07-21
I loved the book concepts and how she used scripture and research to teach. Well done. Some people didn’t like her voice in other reviews I read, but I thought it was clean and easy to hear.
I will be listening to this many times.

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

Historia
The year is 1876. Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories, even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape. In much of the country, it is still illegal to espouse evolution. Against this backdrop two monomaniacal paleontologists pillage the Wild West, hunting for dinosaur fossils while surveilling, deceiving, and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.
