Historia
Black Moon Lilith Rising is unlike any other astrology book out there on multiple fronts: it is a comprehensive exploration of the placement of Lilith in astrology, it's a deep exploration into the misunderstood myth and archetype of Lilith, and it incorporates shadow work and spiritual alchemy. The book begins with an ode to Lilith, anecdotal stories surrounding the author's experience with the energy, the history, and mythology behind the Lilith archetype.

Shallow treatment of subject
Revisado: 10-15-23
I bought this book hoping for a good understanding of Black Moon Lilith, especially because I have BML on my Ascendant. However, I learned very little from this book that I hadn’t already caught online, and that was very disappointing. While it may have been cathartic for the author to write about her own experience, it wasn’t helpful for the reader in understanding Black Moon Lilith Rising. The best part of this book for me was the aspect section where the author explains how Lilith connects with the other planets. I found some new information there that was quite helpful. The end section devolved into a lot of woo woo and I gave up at that point

Not her best
Revisado: 03-23-11
I've listened to a lot of Jodi Picoult's books. This is one of the weakest. I really liked the main character, but the rest of the characters are based on simple stereotypes that at times made me wince. And there are songs throughout. Horrible, awful, grating singing. I had to fast forward through it. I don't recommend this book.

Historia
There are things in Winter, Wisconsin, folks just don't talk about. The murder way back in '45 is one. The near-suicide of a first-grade teacher is another. And then there is 17-year old Christian Cage. Christian's parents disappeared when he was a little boy, and ever since he's drawn and painted obsessively, trying desperately to remember his mother. The problem is Christian doesn't just draw his own memories. He can draw the thoughts of those around him.

Do a little research
Revisado: 11-21-10
The premise of this book sounded interesting. When I saw that it was set in Wisconsin, not too far from where I live, I decided to get it. The story isn't bad, but I wish the author had checked out a map of Wisconsin. Winter is nowhere near Milwaukee. Not remotely close. It was enough of an error, mentioned several times, to really irritate me. The author shows stretches of promise where one can get lost in the story, but those stretches are punctuated by awkward uncertainty. I wouldn't recommend it.

Historia
Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

Eh
Revisado: 03-23-10
Interesting plot, but the writing itself is often awkward. The few suspenseful moments and paired with long periods of time with little happening. Characters are one dimensional. The narration was also often awkward and poorly acted. Overall, not very good. I definitely will not listen to this one again.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

I loved this book. The characters are quirky, sometimes strange, and the plot took me to a place I didn't expect. It was a compelling listen that I didn't want to walk away from. I hope Gillian Flynn has another book in the works.

Horribly horrid
Revisado: 06-24-09
This is the worst book I have ever read or listened to. High school kids write better than this. The trite similes and metaphors would be laughable if they didn't make the reader wince, i.e. "He was as fractious as a stallion scenting a mare in season."
She even used the word "loins." I though that was exclusively used in Harlequin romances or Shakespearean theatre.
If I could give a book zero stars, I would. It used up 2 hours of my life I can never get back.

I think I should listen all the way through books I purchase. In this case it was really hard to do that. The story moves slowly. The characters are one dimensional and I didn't care if they found the missing girl. I just wanted it to be over.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Compelling read
Revisado: 05-25-09
Blunt. Deeply troubled. Intense. The main character of this story is, as many of us are, wounded. When she returns to her hometown, she uncovers just what the nature of that wounding is and who abused her. Intertwined is a whodunit murder mystery.
I couldn't stop listening. I spent extra hours in my art studio (that's where I listen)just to hear the story. This is the first book I want to listen to for a second time.

I had high hopes for this book. A psychic who finds dead bodies. However, it's plain boring. No suspense whatsoever. Completely unrealistic characters. Amazingly bland. I don't recommend it.

There is a reason there are professional book readers and this author is one of them. The author reads so fast you can barely catch the words. I don't think she breaths throughout the entire reading. It's too bad, really, because the content gets lost in this disaster.
