Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

One of my favorite books of all time
Revisado: 05-05-25
I’ve read this book so many times (probably once a year for the last 20 years) and I never get tired of it
Rosamund Pike did a very good job except I didn’t love the way she narrated Mr. Darcy’s voice or Mr. Bennett’s. They didn’t seem to carry as much emotion as a picture the characters conveying – they were slightly monotone.

A Deep and Moving Memoir
Revisado: 10-09-24
I’m so glad I listened to this book on Audible - hearing Michael Richards’ voice really made it come alive for me.
His story is an interesting one and it’s obvious from the get-go that he’s a very deep thinker on top of being a very gifted actor and comedian .

Narrator is Great / Story Didn't Hold My Interest
Revisado: 09-30-24
I generally like Liane Moriarty's books, but I gave up on this one with 8 hours left to go on Audible. The narrator was fantastic, and the premise of the story was interesting, but ultimately, it didn't hold my interest. My sister felt the same.

Historia
Nero Wolfe has left his comfortable brownstone for the promise of a remarkably rare black orchid at a flower show - but before Wolfe and his perennially hardy sidekick, Archie Goodwin, have a chance to stop and smell the roses, a diabolically daring murder takes place right under their noses and puts a blight on the proceedings. Now Wolfe's fancy turns to thoughts of weeding out a murderer - one who's definitely not a garden-variety killer.

Always Entertaining
Revisado: 08-15-24
I can honestly say that I’ve never read a Nero Wolfe novel that I haven’t enjoyed. This one was very good as usual. It took me a little while to get used to the narrator’s voice – at first it seemed too flat and monotone, but after a while, it completely made sense to me and I think he did a great job.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

These are beautifully written little ghost stories and thoroughly enjoyable – definitely not what I would call scary - more eerie than anything else.
Edith Wharton is just an amazing writer and these are all entertaining - although some are better than others.
