I really enjoyed this book. J. Malcom Garcia has a way of bringing the reporter’s perspective into view and shows us a side of war that isn’t often represented. At times uplifting and other times quite sad, this book runs the gamut of the emotional spectrum from darkness to hope.

Marlin May does an excellent job in his narration of this book. He seamlessly nails the pronunciation of names and places in Afghanistan; no small feat considering the difficulty some pose. May makes the already interesting material even more interesting with his flawless performance. I’ve listened to other books he’s narrated and have found him consistent in his professionalism and confidence in his ability to nail any subject.

I highly recommend this non-fiction book.

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve always been fascinated by the Salem witch trials and this book brought to light many aspects that I was unaware of. The author seamlessly switches between generalities of the trials and the story of the main protagonist. His pacing is keen and held my interest throughout.

Marlin May’s narration brought this title to life. His pleasing baritone voice accentuated the material of the book and left me wanting more when the book ended. I’ve listened to other books he’s narrated and always take pleasure in his consistent delivery of meaningful dialogue.

I highly recommend this book.

I listened to the first two books in the Marcus Lear Mysteries trilogy, “Murder on Perry’s Island” and “The Corundum Conundrum.” While I enjoyed those two, “The Mousetrap Killer” is by far my favorite of the three!

Marcus Lear, his partner Jenny, disabled Ricky and his yet-unfinished crime computer program, and goth girl Kat, along with others, race against the clock to catch a serial killer who designs and sets elaborate “mousetraps” in which he imprisons his victims. They must work to solve riddles with the promise of escaping the mousetrap room where they’re held. Will any of them find the answers to the riddles and escape the rooms where they’re held?

In “Mousetrap”, the addition of a very clever serial killer adds to the overall effect of the book. Kevin Earp writes with a style that’s expressive and smoothly flowing, yet keeps one on the edge of the seat while cheering on Marcus Lear and his team to solve the crimes.

Narrator Marlin May does an excellent job narrating “Mousetrap.” He narrated the first two books in the trilogy so his familiarity with the characters and ability to maneuver the different voices - male and female - make for a very entertaining listening experience. His smooth baritone voice lends itself well to the nuances of the written material.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants a novel that twists and turns and keeps you wanting more. “The Mousetrap Killer” can stand on its own but I recommend listening to the first two books first to get the background of the characters and their idiosyncrasies and personality traits.

Enjoy!

David Adams’ book is a sobering read. It details real life incidents of why and how men abuse and murder their partners. He’s done extensive research and doesn’t pull punches when he talks about abuse and murder. The book gets bogged down a bit with all the statistics but they show Adams has done his research and knows his subject. Marlin May’s narration is straight-forward and keeps the book interesting and relevant. I’d think it would be hard to narrate some of the cases listed in the book, but May does it in a calm and professional manner. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in why men kill their intimate partners.

“A Woman Condemned” is the true story of Anna Antonio, who may our may not have been involved in her husband’s murder in the early 1930’s. James Greiner’s style of writing grabbed my attention and Marlin May’s excellent narration kept me on the edge of my seat, making me care about the characters and their actions. I highly recommend this true crime drama!
