Historia
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Exceptional!
Revisado: 05-01-21
Usually when I see a story narrated by Robin Miles, I give it a listen. She did not disappoint. The story overall was great. I found myself staying up late into the night, just because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next! I loved the way the author wove actual historical events and people into the story. If you are a fan of pre civil war/antebellum stories, this is the book for you!

Historia
With the depression bearing down on her family, there isn't much that Cassie Logan can count on anymore. But there is one thing that hasn't changed - the whispering trees outside her window. Cassie's trees, which have stood for centuries, are a great source of comfort to her. But they are also worth a lot of money. With Cassie's daddy gone to lay tracks for the railroad, it seems like no one can stop Mr. Andersen from forcing Big Ma to sell their valuable trees. How can Cassie sit by and watch them disappear?

I've always loved this story!
Revisado: 01-01-20
I remember reading this story for the first time when I was in elementary school. I own the book series, which I've had since middle school. I'm in my early forties now and it's still great. My kids have loved the books also, although not as much as I. Still this series has place in my heart and always will. It was so nice to hear it on audio. The narrator is tolerable although not believable. There is no southern accent, but the story compensates for the lack. I would still suggest this book to read and on audio.

Historia
'Lois and Wilma are proud of their father's brand-new gold Cadillac and excited that the family will be driving it all the way from Ohio to Mississippi. But as they travel deeper into the rural South, there are no admiring glances for the shiny new car; only suspicion and anger for the black man behind the wheel. For the first time in their lives, Lois and her sister know what it's like to feel scared because of the color of their skin.

How is this part of the Logan Family Saga?
Revisado: 01-01-20
This was a nice story but it had nothing to do with the Logan family. It was mentioned that there was family in Mississippi, but doesn't say who. The main characters have never been mentioned in any of the other stories. None of the Logan's we are familiar with like Cassie, Stacy, Little man,Christopher John, Uncle Hammer etc. are mentioned. Not even extended family Cousin Jasper or friends, Moe Turner, cousin Suezella who may have been up north were mentioned. There is no connection. This was a nice short story but not a Logan Family story. I also feel it's not worth the price or even the use of a free credit. If you love the Logan family series like I do, and you just want to read this story, I suggest checking it out at a library or borrowing it from someone whose purchased this already. I hate that I have to write this, but it is was it is. It's not a Logan family story.

I've always loved this series! I remember reading this book when I was in middle school and it still resonates. I didn't care for the narrator but she did her best. She just doesn't sound like someone from the south let alone Mississippi. Still the story was worth listening to.

Uneventful. Great narration!
Revisado: 05-20-18
This story was just that, a story. It wasn't a bad book just uneventful. The narrator really brought the story over. It's something to listen to if you're bored. The story starts off promising but the ending was typical.

Historia
Jubilee tells the true story of Vyry, the child of a white plantation owner and his black mistress. Vyry bears witness to the South's antebellum opulence and to its brutality, its wartime ruin, and the promises of Reconstruction. Weaving her own family's oral history with 30 years of research, Margaret Walker's novel brings the everyday experiences of slaves to light. Jubilee churns with the hunger, the hymns, the struggles, and the very breath of American history.
