Historia
"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

we need a revolution
Revisado: 02-20-24
I read this after listening to Atlas of the Heart. I admire how Brene can take so much confusing information and distil it to a fine point that we all need to internalize. we all belong here. To be truly free, you belong to noone.
Last year a friend told me in all the years she's known me, one theme keeps surfacing; that I don't know where I belong. what great timing of the Universe to put this book in front of me. I went from feeling uncomfortable with my inability to fit in, to embracing the reasons I don't fit in.

At least SOMEONE gets me
Revisado: 02-16-24
Every single chapter had me completely engaged. Why? Because this is me. Remember the Me Too movement? Well, this book is a "me too" story of my life. It inspired me to find a way to help all of us neurodivergents learn how to operate our brains. This validates all my fears, shame, insecurities, lonerism, divorces, being fired, and especially my longing to just be with my horses, because they challenge me to be all the good things I can be that I can't be with neurotypicals. I'm thinking of ways to bring the horses to the ADHD community to facilitate the healing I've felt from them.

I found this information to be completely full of sweeping generalizations. There was no content a web surfer couldn't have found from reading a Google search. i would have been better off using AI to write me a book on the subject.
I wasted money and time here, I'm pretty sure

In her research of horsemen and women who have a gift with horses, Dr. Susan Fay outlines the invisible things these equestrians do that make their interactions with horses seem effortless. As a research scientist and life-long equestrian, Dr. Fay spent more than two decades searching for scientific explanations for why some people are able to develop seemingly spiritual relationships with horses.
