Historia
A thrilling and revelatory narrative of one of the most epic and consequential periods in 20th century history - the Arab Revolt and the secret “great game” to control the Middle East. Lawrence in Arabia definitively overturns received wisdom on how the modern Middle East was formed. Sweeping in its action, keen in its portraiture, acid in its condemnation of the destruction wrought by European colonial plots, this is a book that brilliantly captures the way in which the folly of the past creates the anguish of the present.

complicated but interesting
Revisado: 09-19-22
Since English is not my native language I found that I needed extra effort and attention to follow the narration. In addition I'm completely ignorant on the geography and history of the once otoman empire. So, I had to constantly rewind or stop the audio and look for the places on google. I'm sure I didn't fully understand all the details in the book, but still I liked it. It doesn't only focus on Lawrence, but other characters as well, and how their actions affected each other. It also talks a little about how the events in the rest of the world affected the area. So, for a complete newbie in the topic it made matters comprehensive and interesting. The narrator speaks clearly, though a bit fast for my taste. He changes voices for each character helping with clarity.

Revisado: 07-19-22
As usual I enjoyed very much the performance of Hugh Fraser, but I didn't like The secret of Chimney's story, too far fetched for my taste. I preferred "A murder is announced" and the reader does a good job changing voices for the several characters on the story.

Historia
Twelve billionaires rule the United States, while those called freemen are forced to serve the rich. But that was 60 years ago, before the Scarlet Plague. In this post-apocalyptic novella, a ragged and tattered old man tells his progeny of what life was like before The Scarlet Plague appeared - and wiped out civilization as they knew it.

found the narrator a bit boring
Revisado: 07-04-22
I didn't like the story very much, a lot of the ramarks of the main character were annoying, and I found the narrator's voice a bit tedious and boring. But I did want to know what this story was about, so no regrets.

bien, pero querría mas detalles.
Revisado: 02-19-22

Revisado: 02-03-22
Beautiful performance. The narrator has a beautiful voice and enacts all the characters very well. I enjoyed listening to her. I also like the narrative and style of the book, but I was expecting a different story, because I've watched the movie and I like it very much. I thought this was a love story, but it's not.

strange but interesting reflexions
Revisado: 11-13-21
I didn't understand the message in most of the stories, but I enjoyed the discourses about the many topics that they talk about. I liked the characters, the descriptions, the pace of the stories and how unusual the narrative was to me. Also, I liked Richard Armitage's performance very much.

glad I'm not the only one
Revisado: 10-30-21
I disliked it so much that I thought I was wrong. but there are others like me. (good to know).
I extremely disliked both characters, the voice inflections and attitudes of the actors where annoying (probably justified) but still annoying. and the story.... meh!.
I feel like it's trying too hard to be emotional and baffling, and it's neither.

a very disappointing ending
Revisado: 10-26-21
Never saw the movie because my mom told me that it was extremely boring, so I was happily surprised when I started listening to the book and found it interesting and entertaining. It includes scientific notes and explanations to the narrative and makes it easier to visualize and exciting to think about. I liked most of the book, but the ending was so strange and unfounded that left me disappointed.
The narrator however was wonderful, I enjoyed his reading very very much. The book starts with an introduction by the author and I was worried that he was going to be reading the whole book, but fortunately, no. It's narrated by Dick Hill and he does a great job.

very different from the movie. In the beginning I found it boring, but it gets better. I end up liking it and wondering how would it end. I didn't love the ending, but it's not terrible either. In summary I would say it's an entertaining book.

good, but there are better ones
Revisado: 09-03-21
What I enjoy the most of Agatha Christie is her development of the characters, but these short stories focus entirely on solving the mystery. So, I didn't enjoy these stories as much as her novels. Also, I do like Richard Armitage's narration in this and other books, BUT in my opinion no one can read Agatha Christie better than Hugh Fraser.
