Good, Wholesome Story

Likable Story, Despite Unlikable Heroine

I found this story when looking for a clean and wholesome story. I appreciate that I did find that in this story. For me, Greta was really unlikable, talk about shallow. She almost ruined the story for me. I'd like to say she was redeemed by the end, but not really. At least not a lot. The story was okay though. I finished the book and I don't regret getting it. It was what I was looking for, a clean good story. The story gets about 3 and a half stars. The heroine would only get 1. The narrator was great. I'd give her 5 stars.

It was a pretty good story. It had way too many details in the intimate parts for my liking. I had to fast forward through those. Overall a decent story. Would I listen again? Probably not. But I did finish it which is saying a lot because I usually can't finish these over sexed books.

Love, love, love this book! I'm a sucker for a slow burn romance and this did not disappoint. If you love the slow burn, enemies to friends to lovers then pick this one up!

Not Zapata's best work.

Let me start with I love Marianna Zapata. The first look of hers I read was Kulti, and WOW. I'm a huge fan of a good slow burn romance and she nailed it. Next I read From Lulov With Love and then The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. All three were well written, slow burn romances with strong heroines and swoonworthy heroes that made the heroine fall in love with them throughout the book, right along with the reader.

So with three great books in a row I went into this one with such high hopes. The slow burn is there, but not done nearly as well. I honestly cant see why the heroine falls for the big jerk. Their interactions felt more like verbal abuse to me and he was controlling, not in a sexy way either. Maybe it's just personal preference, to each their own I suppose. I had some trouble finishing this one.

I must say, the narrator Callie Dalton is amazing as always.

My advice is if you've never read Mariana Zapata, try one of her other books I mentioned first.

I tried for the 2nd time to finish this story. The story seems like it could be interesting enough, but honestly I think the narrator is what is ruining it for me. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Bad, just bad

The "hero" was a real jerk, just awful. The heroine was unbelievably naive. The narrator sounded about twelve years old and didn't even attempt to change her voice for the male parts. It made the intimate scenes cringe worthy. I tried to get through it, but honestly skipped a lot. If you're thinking of using a credit on this be sure to listen to the audio sample, I wish I had.

This is my first Katie Reus book. I wasn't disappointed. I look forward to reading more of her work!
