Historia
Centuries ago the human race fought its first great war against an alien race - and lost. A tiny population of human beings fled to distant Safehold. Centuries later their descendants have forgotten their history; for them, life has been an eternal Middle Ages, ruled by the Church of God Awaiting, whose secret purpose is to prevent the reemergence of industrial civilization. But not all of Safehold's founders were onboard with this plan. Those dissidents left behind their own secret legacies.

He's really stretching this out
Revisado: 09-04-24
So, yet another book full of filler. Is this ever going to end? I thought, you know, they might get to space. Fight the Gbbaba. It's been however many books, and uh, they haven't even got to the big fight yet. Just more slaughtering the innocents, oh look how cool this new thingy is, oh the bad guys are so bad. Unfortunately, I'm in to deep, going to the next book.
Oh, and this narrator is kinda crap. He mispronounced words, skips words,.mixes up voices. He's not good. But then, neither is the series really.

Whah whah wha, whah WHah wha, wha wha.
That's all I really remember of the first 2 or 3 chapters.Thats not because of the story, or the characters, the writing. That's because that is exactly how the narrators voice sounds, regardless of what's happening, the punctuation, combat sequences, conversations, she has the exact same intonation, rhythm, cadence, tone no matter what. She does eventually get slightly better, but she cannot emphasize words properly, or with any logic. No way will I bother with the series if she's the narrator.

These are the most repetitive books ever written.
Revisado: 03-28-24
This has to be the worst series I've ever read. If you've read the first book, you've read the first four books. Each one has the exact same plot, with almost the exact same characters, all the way through. And there are apparently nine of them. I'd maybe read the first one, and the last one, probably won't have missed a thing. These were free here on audible, only reason I kept going as long as I did, no way I'm slogging through the rest of this crap.

Historia
With human civilization annihilated by a biological zombie plague, a rag-tag fleet of yachts and freighters known as Wolf Squadron scours the Atlantic, searching for survivors. Within every abandoned liner and carrier lurks a potential horde, safety can never be taken for granted, and death and turning into one of the enemy is only a moment away. Yet every ship and town holds the flickering hope of survivors. One and two from lifeboats, a dozen from a fishing village, a few hundred wrenched by fury and fire from a ship that once housed thousands....

Ringo needs real help
Revisado: 02-25-24
So, the thing is, the main character of the series is a 13 year old girl. Obviously this in and of itself is not a bad thing. But, said 13 year old is apparently capable of wearing 100 lbs of combat gear, and fighting hand to hand with several adult opponents at a time and not only stay upright while being dogpiled by them, but lift them bodily over her head. That is the main premise you have to accept for this series.
And then, you have the authors obvious pedophile to contend with, as he seems to delight in describing how hot she is to every male around her, all the time. Then there's the fact that she is in charge of everyone she works with, and seems to vacillate between ignorance of any and all military customs and procedures, and absolute expertise in same. This is just really bad writing at this point, the man needs an editor.
The narrator ... anyone that narrates military sci fi should be at least somewhat familiar with military terms and acronyms fer fuks sake.
Asshole, it's MA Deuce, not fuking maduece.

thos bookbinding of sucks
Revisado: 05-20-23
First, the name is Cuth - bert, not freak8ng Kewthbert. Cuth.
Cuuuuuuth. Not Kew or Qew,
And that name shows up A WHOLE LOT in this book. The narrator is very into his performance, but, that doesn't mean he's good. Too bad the very first narrator didn't do the rest of them.
Anyway, this book just kind of sucks. King does tend to drag stories out, but he usually only writes one novel, so you het like, an unnecessary chapter. I guess when he writes a series, you get an unnecessary book. This thing has chapters and chapters of nothing. Just freak8ng nothing.

ringos always rapey
Revisado: 05-08-23
John Ringo stories always have to have an weren't of rape and sad masochism to them. All his heroes have to javeseriius issues with needing to be sexually dominant in order to be happy. Well, this one is no different, but atheist theres no pedophilia.
This narrator is outright horrible though. I don't think he knows what punctuation is, what the funny little symbols mean, and he definitely sucks at pronunciation. He's just very bad. His cadence is way off, he pauses at inappropriate times, speeds up when he shouldn't, his inflection is off 90% of the time. He's shit. Really. Do not pay for this book.
