Historia
Back in the summer of 1988, a young Richard Chizmar was catapulted into the center of a living nightmare as the serial killer Joshua Gallagher—dubbed by the media as “The Boogeyman”—stalked his tranquil Maryland town. A lot has changed in the intervening years. These days, Chizmar enjoys a certain level of celebrity and notoriety himself, being the only person that an incarcerated Josh Gallagher will speak to on or off the record.

Great sequel to Chasing the Boogeyman
Revisado: 11-19-23
This book was a great journey from start to finish. I actually enjoyed it even more than the first book in this series. It kept me guessing the entire time, which for me is very unusual and marks the sign of a great writer. Highly recommend.

In Matheson's vampire classic I Am Legend, a plague has decimated the world and transformed the unfortunate survivors into bloodthirsty creatures of the night. Robert Neville is the last living man on Earth. Every other man, woman, and child has become a vampire hungry for Neville's blood. By day he is the hunter, stalking the sleeping undead through the abandoned ruins of civilization. By night he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn. How long can one man survive in a world of vampires?

Should be two books
Revisado: 11-12-21
Most of the stories are great, some are just meh. My real problem with this book is the narration. The first part "I am Legend" is done very well. The rest of the book is done by someone else, and the voice is just boring. No inflection, no interest, just reading the stories. There is not even any break between stories, so sometimes you find yourself wondering if it's a new story or still the previous one. Worth getting, but be prepared to struggle listening to the short stories.

Historia
In the summer of 1988, the mutilated bodies of several missing girls begin to turn up in a small Maryland town. The grisly evidence leads police to the terrifying assumption that a serial killer is on the loose in the quiet suburb. But soon a rumor begins to spread that the evil stalking local teens is not entirely human. Law enforcement, as well as members of the FBI, are certain that the killer is a living, breathing madman - and he’s playing games with them.

Great True Crime Novel
Revisado: 08-27-21
I was very excited for this book to come out - and didn't want it to be over when I finished it. Story is very well written, and is told from the viewpoint of the author. I felt like I really got to know him and his family from the story. The story itself has all the elements you would expect from a true crime novel, details, points of view, interviews, police involvement, press, you name it, it's all there. The narration is great - I felt very appropriate for the genre. One part that will stay with me is when the author is worried his mom won't want to cook for him anymore. As a mother, I can tell you that would never happen! At least not with the loving family the reader is introduced to in this story. Great book - if you've never read anything by Chizmar before, check out his other books - and his collaborations with his son Billy & Stephen King.

Historia
Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances.

This book had me hooked all the way through. I really liked the story and the characters. I liked it so much I ordered a special edition of the book produced by Suntup Editions. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I also purchased it, and am looking forward to finding the time to watch it. I hope it's as good as the book.

But the journey ahead will be terrifying: 20 miles downriver in a rowboat blindfolded with nothing to rely on but Malorie's wits and the children's trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them....

Good character development
Revisado: 02-19-19
I really enjoyed this book - took a chance because of the hoopla surrounding the movie on Netflix. I always try to read the book before seeing the movie - so I can't compare, since I have yet to see the movie. The book though, was a lot better than I anticipated. I enjoyed the slow character development, and my theories on things as the story progressed. I'm not a huge fan of any ending - not many writers can write an ending that is satisfying to me - I either don't agree - or I just don't want it to end! The ending to this was fine. I recommend this book, and have already added a few more titles by this author to my to-be-read list.

Historia
When Henry was a child, something terrible happened in the woods behind his home, something so shocking he could only express his terror by drawing pictures of what he had witnessed. Eventually, Henry's mind blocked out the bad memories, but he continued to draw, often at night by the light of the moon. Twenty years later, Henry makes his living by painting his disturbing works of art. He loves his wife and his son, and life couldn't be better...except there's something not quite right....

Good Author
Revisado: 02-19-19
Brian James Freeman is becoming one of my favorite authors. He has a knack for drawing you into a story almost immediately. My only complaint is that I feel like the story shouldn't end! I hope he will come out with some novel-lengthed books in the future, but for now, novellas, short stories, and children's books (The Zombie who Cried Human) are around to keep me coming back for more. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
The narration on this book was good - nothing spectacular, but not distracting either (which is a must for audiobooks!)
