Historia
It was a hard-learned lesson but Jim Powell finally understood that isolating his group of friends and family was no longer the best idea. It was a strategy that had once kept them safe, but lately seemed to be doing exactly the opposite. Staying out of town and away from people had led to them missing critical intelligence—that there were people in their community actively plotting against Jim.

Revisado: 07-25-22
The Borrowed World series was my first apocalyptic book read. I hit the jackpot with Mr. Horton and Mr. Pierce narrating. Of course my favorite was Book one. But I have not lost interest. Can't wait for Book 11.

Historia
The instant New York Times best-selling memoir from the outspoken former governor - an "explosive" (Guardian) "must read" (Hugh Hewitt) account of Chris Christie's life in politics including his "not to miss" (Entertainment Weekly) insights into Donald Trump. In Let Me Finish, Christie sets the record straight about his tenure as a corruption-fighting prosecutor and a Republican running a Democratic state, as well as what really happened on the 2016 campaign trail and inside Trump Tower.

With friends like Donald-who needs enemies!
Revisado: 03-05-19
I am a Democrat and live in NJ. I like Christie and I don't like Christie. He did help our state with Sandy. I will be forever grateful and must say thankfully my house was not affected. BUT I never appreciated his brash style. I wonder if his mother liked when he called reporters and other people "stupid". This is the sign of a bully. You can say your question is stupid and I won't answer it. But you don't have to say you are stupid. Name calling from a grown man in a position of power is juvenile.
I wonder why he would think that a man- child like Trump would have the brains or in any way be qualified to run the most powerful nation in the world. After listening to the book, I realize his ambition out weighed his common sense. I don't agree with his politics and hope he finds happiness in the private sector.

I Am Toast if we have an EMP.
Revisado: 03-28-18
This is my favorite series of apocalyptic books. I have read many and I always compare them to this one. I've read all five books and am hoping there will be a sixth. I liked the characters, the writing and I love Kevin Pierce. I have a GO bag in my car but I'm afraid I would not last long in this environment.

Revisado: 03-17-18
A different take on an apocalyptic book. Trouble finds this group way before the real event occurs. Now you are left hanging as to how the group will deal with what appears to be an EMP. Makes me wish the second book was available now. Who knows how long we will have to wait for that book. A definite good read. Held my attention through out. Also with Kevin Pierce as narrator well worth the credit!

The Trouble Never Ends
Revisado: 11-12-17
This is my all time favorite post apocalyptic series. The reality of what can happen and the characters are so true and interesting. I sometimes wonder if I would have made the right choice as to whether to go with Jim and company or to make the choice Alice and Rebecca did. I so identified with the character Randy at the beginning of series. I probably would not have been so revengeful later on in the story. I would like to think I wouldn't be. But I can certainly understand her motivation. Wish I knew someone like Jim in my life. I can only hope Mr. Horton writes a Book 6 in this series.

Historia
As a prepper, Grayson Rowan was prepared for almost anything...anything other than being totally alone when the sh*t hits the fan. While he sat back and watched the US rattle swords with Korea, play chicken with Russia, and strong-arm China, he felt sure if the lights went out that he and his family would be ready and safe. What he wasn't prepared for was his family not being home if it ever happened. Olivia Rowan is with her sisters, Gabby and Emma, on a girls-only trip to Myrtle Beach. Graysie Rowan, a freshman at university, just wants to go home.

Leave out the Politics
Revisado: 11-01-17
I've read a number of apocalyptic books. Anything that Kevin Pierce narrates I seem to enjoy. I realize that any book about preppers will have a conservative theme. But being a liberal I felt compelled to skip over the praise of Trump. I think the author is taking a chance here to not appealing to ALL the people. Better to leave the politics out and concentrate on the story. I feel we would not be in the precarious place that we are as a nation if it were not for Trump. The story is a little muddled but I would give the author a "C". I don't think I will buy the next book.

And so it begins, the virus enters on the quiet feet of The Innocents. It invades each and every one of us. But, they say, plagues are like fires. At some point, they burn themselves out. Or not. Fear and rumor can be far more dangerous than the virus itself.

Better be a Prepper
Revisado: 08-20-17
Where does Pandemic: The Innocents: The Pandemic Series, Book 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'm afraid it wasn't one of my favorites. I thought if I were Mac I would have shown a little more anxiety a little sooner than she did. The narrator for Mac seems less serious in her tone than she should be. I prefer one narrator to an audio book. The male narrator was very good and I would have liked him to do it all.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hunter was more realistic as compared to Mac. I was incredulous when she remarked that having her parents with them might be a cramp their relationship. Sorry maybe I'm being too serious but come on...that wasn't even funny.
What three words best describe John David Farrell and Kris Adams ’s voice?
I liked him but Kris was so light hearted in her tone. She has a nice voice and would be good in humorous genres.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No I was able to stop listening. I'm going to buy the kindle version of Book 3. I'm sure I will enjoy this book better by reading. I also probably will enjoy Book 3 the most because I like to see how people survive through the struggle.
Any additional comments?
I read a lot of post apocalyptic books. I really enjoyed Akart's Black out series.
Possibly I have been hard on the female narrator but the author's words also take some blame. I just felt Mac was not as serious as she should have been.

There were many who said it would happen. No one listened. Was it true that ISIS set off multiple EMPs across the United States, taking out the entire power grid? Or was that just a cover-up? John and Laura Monroe are stuck on a train that has come to its final stop 150 miles from home. With no communications, and with strange storms taking over the skies, every decision they make could be the difference between life and death.

Use Common Sense
Revisado: 04-30-17
What would have made Strike Point - the Trilogy better?
A story that made sense...
Has Strike Point - the Trilogy turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love Kevin Pierce.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger...As I listened I wondered WHY are these people going to St. Louis? A house... anyone who had ears along the way, would know it was destroyed. Close family? Nieces and nephews that they probably saw once a year in normal times? They had everything they needed on Ben's farm and anyone with a brain would have stayed. But I guess the author would not have had a book. Should have had a desperate reason to go home. A daughter or son maybe. Making the story more credible...

The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

I loved this book!
Revisado: 12-08-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes and I have. So far no complaints. I have been listening to a number of post apocalyptic books and found this book refreshing. You can only take so much people eating people. This was a book of normal people living the best they could under extreme circumstances.
What other book might you compare The Last Tribe to and why?
The Stand...But King's book had his usual science fiction theme. This book didn't and I didn't miss it.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love Scott Brick. He did his usual great job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Survive together.
Any additional comments?
I also liked the length of the book. I'm not happy with a book that is only five or six hours long. Then the author has Book 2 then 3 and so forth. I understand why they do it. More money for them and more money to shell out for me.
