Larek has returned from across the seas and back to the Kingdom. Along the way, he has increased his power and abilities, learning more and becoming more capable.

My favorite aspect of the whole series is the incredible structure of the system. Larek's fusions grow bit by bit and the author does a great job detailing how it works. Each level of understanding is well thought out and builds on the previous explanations seamlessly.

Unlike many LitRPG adventures, I can really *see* the system and its manipulations in my mind because Brooks is so clear in his descriptions. It really is one of the best-thought-out-and-explained systems I've read.

I am really looking forward to the next part of Larek's adventure.

A great reimagining of the original. And the performance was masterly with perfect voices. Perfect! =)

Greenblatt tells a good story about the recovery and dissemination of Lucretius' De Rerum Novarum, but it seems he overstates his case for it "making the modern world."

While, according to his telling, DRN certainly was a thread found in many, if not most, of the paths through which modern thought developed over the years, his case is less than compelling. Coincidence is not causation.

When I am down, when my depression has risen and my life is meaningless, when my soul is tired, Siddhartha centers me. It refreshes my heart.

Please, when you need a spiritual reinforcement, read this book. It is, and will remain, the one book I can turn to over and over and always find solace.

I listened to this as I ran a half marathon. It was repetitive and about as exciting as watching grass grow.

The characters were one dimensional. The plot was slow and you could see every event on the narrative timeline all the way to the horizon.

Worth it if it's on sale, but not at full price. This story was enjoyable but not nearly as long as necessary to make it a real Larry Correia ripper.

Nice treatment of a familiar trope right up to the overused ending.

The narration was acceptable but nothing special.

If you’ve listened to books by Jesse Petersen before, how does this one compare?

Since the first one introduced us to the characters, it had a lot more room to maneuver and to surprise us with new revelations. This one, while fun, seemed a bit forced to try and continue the schtick Petersen used to flesh out her heroine in the first book.

Written in 1954 and set in the 1970s, this is the story of a man living in a world in which vampires have become the dominant species. You explore his world, his mind, and the shape of how things might be after such a cataclysm.

Of of the main character's primary drives is to find out what caused this vampire epidemic and how it might be fought. While the science is a bit dated, it is still fun to examine and I found these parts to be the most interesting.

As for the production quality, Robertson Dean does a MASTERFUL job of bringing the story to life and infusing it with everything from psychosis to anger to sadness to horror. Bravo!

Buy this audiobook if only to listen to a first rate narrator suck you deep into a well-told story.
