Not Earth shattering but still pretty good

If you enjoy books about possession or demonology, it’s worth a listen. Don’t expect to be blown away. The narration was pretty solid but the story was pretty run of the mill.

Started this out confused as to what was going on…

…and ended it on the edge of my seat. This is a great book and as the story unravels, light bulbs go off in your head and you understand more of this world that Scott Hawkins has created. It’s a shame this is the only piece of fiction he’s written because I’d love to see what other stories he could concoct.

It had seemed like Stephen King had begun to phone it in with his recent offerings but I really enjoyed this story. It had a little bit of everything. I also thought the narration was solid. Check it out!

Spooky story that was aided by an excellent narration

I don’t know if I would have enjoyed this so much if I hadn’t listened to the excellent performance. The information about mountain climbing was fascinating and the description of the encounters with the presence on the mountain were terrifying.

The story was great, the narrations was not

I love this story and I feel as though if I had read the book, it would be a 4.5/5 star book. However, the narrator was god awful. The voices he puts on for the teens and women in the story were so cartoony that it completely took me out of the story. If you're debating on whether to listen to this, don't. Read the book instead.

...and Michael C. Hall's narration was perfect. He perfectly captures the emotion of each passage. This might be the best audiobook I've listened to.
