Historia
The aromas of wild thyme and Highland heather waft through Lochdubh, home to M. C. Beaton's eccentric policeman, Hamish Macbeth. Yet what the irascible constable smells in his latest case is the acrid scent of fear as an entire town is entrapped in something dark and deadly.... Yet as he deftly investigates the summer's high crimes and misdemeanors, he attracts the attention of his superiors. They feel a promotion and transfer will give him a larger playing field than Lochdubh. That's the last thing Macbeth wants.

Where have the good cozies gone?
Revisado: 03-11-13
What would have made Death of a Village better?
I love Hamish - but why is he such an $&*#@. In this one he comes across as really unfair and almost mean to Isabel. She keeps coming back for more when any gal with half a head would have nothing to do with him. This cozie has too many ridiculous angles, not enough story in the story - too much trying to create a "you'll never guess what's really happening" story. I fear the author mailed this one in.
Would you ever listen to anything by M. C. Beaton again?
Doubtful. I have listened to three or four. Promised myself this would be the last time I got lazy and downloaded a Hamish instead of spending some more time searching out a better cozie. Titles please....
What didn’t you like about Graeme Malcolm’s performance?
He a fine narrator.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Nothing pops into my mind ...

Historia
It was meant to be a harmless stag-night prank. A few hours later, four of his best friends are dead, and Michael Harrison has disappeared. With only three days to the wedding, Detective Superintendent Grace - a man haunted by the shadow of his own missing wife - is contacted by Michael's beautiful, distraught fiancée, Ashley Harper. Grace discovers that the one man who ought to know Michael Harrison's whereabouts is saying nothing. But then, he has a lot to gain - more than anyone realizes.

Poor Plotting - Rather Ridiculous
Revisado: 03-11-13
What did you like best about Dead Simple? What did you like least?
Starts off OK - prank gone wrong. Will the groom live? Tell me, if you were trapped in a confined space with a cell phone fearing for your life who would you call? Hold on... you also have a walkie-talkie - and someone on the other end. Many people in fact.... So why, are you still stuck in your confined space. BECAUSE you decided to carry on a conversation with someone rather than dial 999 or 911 and get the heck out of your box. Really?! Hate it when writers don't follow through on their promise to create well thought out plots. This one goes from just poorly planned plotting to just silly. Look elsewhere if you want a great story, if you can get this one cheap and are willing to accept these failures sit back and enjoy - just keep an open mind.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Macbeth: A Novel by David Hewson, A. Hartley
