Historia
Dr. Margaret Richter has it all. She’s rich, thanks to her best-selling self-help books. She has a beautiful home in Cape Cod overlooking the beach. And she has a monthly book club that everyone is dying to get invited to. Literally. Because behind the crystal wine glasses, the fine linens and the catered hors d'oeuvres lies a tangled web of secrets, of deceit, of murder. No member of the book club is innocent—and many are guilty. And the person with the most to hide is Margaret Richter herself.

Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 05-03-25
What a let down. I saw Karin slaughter and January Lavoy and just borrowed it for a listen. Wow. 2 hours in and I give up. Collaboration of short stories. Nope. Sorry, I just can’t do it.
Good luck for those who may give it a go.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Historia
I had it all: a fantastic husband, two great kids, an exciting career. And then, at the age of forty-three, I found out I would be dead before my next birthday. My mother also died young. I was seventeen, and she warned me that women would flock to my suddenly single father like stray cats to an overturned milk truck. They did. And one absolutely evil woman practically destroyed his life, mine, and my sister’s. I am not letting that happen to my family. I have three months, and I plan to spend every waking minute searching for the perfect woman to take my place as Alex’s wife.

Cried like a baby
Revisado: 04-03-25
This was fantastic. Never listened to this author before, but it came up as a suggested read for me. January Lavoy did not disappoint. She is definitely my favorite narrator . All that aside, this book blew me away. I lost my mom at 18 so I did lots and lots of crying. It was only an hour in and honestly did not think I was gonna be able to finish. I’m glad I did. I’m glad this book demonstrated that blood is not thicker than water and that you can choose your family. The bonds that are formed when you are young are the ones that will take you to your grave. This book is nothing near the genre I listen to you on a daily basis BUT I absolutely recommend it 100%.

Couldn’t listen to 8 hours of a teenager reading
Revisado: 08-02-24
I am very sorry I couldn’t finish this book. The description was right up my alley but I had to give up after an hour. I just could not handle the teen reader. Nothing wrong with it for this story but it’s just not a voice that I enjoyed.

The clock at St. Killian’s chimes as whispers float in the dark staircase above. Snow falls from the black sky beyond the windows, and candles glow - the flames lighting up the longest night of the year. Devil’s Night isn’t the only holiday we celebrate. Tonight, we’re pulling on a different mask. Some call it Midwinter. Others call it Yule. We call it Fire Night.

What a series !!
Revisado: 07-26-24
I stumbled on these in the plus catalog. And I am thrilled !!!! At 20 hours each I was loaded up for a couple weeks. I loved how each couple had their own book with their entire story. The last one that was 10 yrs in present with children I really enjoyed. I mean no I enjoyed them all. I’m now adding Penelope to my list of favorite authors to watch for. Fantastic !!!

Not a thriller
Revisado: 05-27-24
This book should be in the drama category. I prefer thriller/suspense so when I read the preview it sounded great. I finished it but found nothing exciting about it. The story was not bad, but I wouldn’t have got it had it been in a different category.

Historia
Harley Fremont and her K-9 partner, Gemma, are called when twenty-four men attend camp but only twenty-two are accounted for. The five-mile trail between camp and the hotel on the outskirts of town is complicated. It's not a forest-made trail that is easy to follow; it is rocky in places, making tracking difficult. The trail is also riddled with tree branches and roots, making the hike dangerous. Plus, the trail has a dozen man-made off-shoot paths with their own man-made off-shoot paths. The trail condition leads people to think the two missing men simply lost their way back to the hotel. ...

I gave up after 1.5 hours
Revisado: 03-11-24
I enjoyed the concept of the story as well as the characters but having only one voice in it the same tone had me really thinking which character was talking when. I don’t think I’ll be reading another computer generated voice story. Sorry.

Historia
Recently engaged and deeply ensconced in her third year of surgical residency in Chicago, Emily Hartford gets a shock when she is called home to Freeport, Michigan, the small town she fled a decade ago after the death of her mother. Her estranged father, the local medical examiner, has had a massive heart attack. At the hospital, she finds her father in near total denial of the seriousness of his condition. He insists that the best thing Emily can do to help him is to take on the autopsy of a senator's teen daughter whose sudden, unexplained death has just rocked the sleepy town.

Predictiable

I didn’t dislike this but was far from a fav. Found it very very predictable with no surprises. Also was not a fan of the narrator at all. I don’t think I’ll be listening to either again.

Lee Gulliver never thought she’d find herself living on the streets—no one ever does—but when her restaurant fails, and she falls deeper into debt, she leaves her old life behind with nothing but her clothes and her Toyota Corolla. In Seattle, she parks in a secluded spot by the beach to lay low and plan her next move—until early one morning, she sees a sobbing woman throw herself into the ocean. Lee hauls the woman back to the surface, but instead of appreciation, she is met with fury.
