Historia
Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his wife, Laurie, enjoy walking their dogs, Tara and Sebastian. By this point in their marriage, it’s routine. When out for one of their strolls, their simple ritual isn’t so simple anymore. Across the street, a man is mistreating his dog. Three things happen at once: Andy yells, Laurie runs to stop the abuse, and so does a closer passerby, who so thoroughly beats the owner that both are arrested when the cops arrive.

Giovanna’s pretty face is changing, turning ugly, at least so her father thinks. Giovanna, he says, is looking more like her Aunt Vittoria every day. But can it be true? Is she really changing? Will she turn out like her despised Aunt Vittoria, a woman she hardly knows but whom her mother and father have spent their whole lives avoiding and deriding? There must be a mirror somewhere in which she can see herself as she truly is.

A Great Read
Revisado: 12-14-20
Well written, engaging, powerful. A great glimpse into one of the horrible injustices that can happen with bad legislation. So many people have no idea that this kind of injustice exists, until it happens to someone they know, and then they can't believe it. Believe it! I hope this book enlightens some people to how we, as individuals, need to be aware of what is being done with our laws, and make our voices heard.

Now, the cold-case department is checking evidence from a murder case Doug was investigating before the accident, but the DNA points to a man Doug eliminated as a suspect...and he remembers none of it. Doug begins to reinvestigate what turns out to be a series of unsolved killings and must retrace his steps to discover why he would have let the suspect go free.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes. It starts out a bit slow and not really to my taste, but as the events unfold, its riveting, interesting and enlightening.
What about Betsy Beard’s performance did you like?
She has a way of keeping the tone interesting with voice changes and emotional infuse.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not really, its too long for that, but I was anxious to get back to it once I really got into it.
