First podcast by dudes I will vouch for 💯👍
Revisado: 01-09-23
This is the first podcast by dudes that I've grown to love & respect...I've always preferred to listen to women report true crime cases due to the way women are portrayed in these cases...most victims of prolific, targeted violence are women, yet only recently have we been the ones to speak on what happens to us. It took me a minute to give a podcast by men a chance, but this one hooked me. You report these stories/cases respectfully, objectively, intelligently, & most importantly, with humanity & genuine compassion for the victims/survivors of both violent crime & our broken justice system. It's good to hear two men report on these cases free of the bias & victim blame I've always heard in the news, in the world, and sadly even from law enforcement. It's refreshing AF. Great example of an objective, principled, dignified podcast...With all the violence against women escalating steadily, I believe the true crime community is a vital part of the front lines making a difference. I also really appreciated the Brock Turner coverage. It was one of the first times I've heard men speak on the subject matter of sexual assault & rape culture accurately and from a place of genuine distain. That sounds terrible this is how the world is often seen through our eyes. It was good to hear someone else see it the same way...it's a step towards where the world needs to be. Thank you guys for showing em how it's done.

July 22, 2011 started like any other day, with an island full of youth campers enjoying their time together and business as usual for the government district of Oslo. In the end, 77 innocent people lost their lives to the delusions and hatred of Anders Breivik. I can't believe I've never heard of this case...not just within the true crime community, but in school. Thank you for taking the time to carry on this story. It's important that these stories are carried on, they're not easy to digest but if there is anything we can ever do in the future to prevent this from happening again, or even the reminder that you never know what some people have seen & dealt with in their lifetime, such as everyone affected by this tragedy. Even in a place where guns are few & far between, the things that violent dudes like this are capable of need to be known. The common denominator of all these guys? Misogynist, aggressive, hateful dudes. That energy is NEVER not harmful.. Thank u guys for covering such a hard story...something most of us can't even imagine.

We’re heading on over to Salem in the middle of this fine week to bring you the case of Captain Joseph White. Captain White was simply not a good man, he owned slaves, he had improper relations with his family and he was just generally disliked. When the niece that he was having “relations” with decided to up and marry someone other than him he was PISSED and took her out of the will. That will would become one of the main reasons the man was killed, but in the end (like every murder) it would be all for naught.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice...

Smh...I gotta say thank you for taking the time to read the victim impact statements, you guys do that a lot & I think it matters that people hear those so we remember these cases have people, families, & feelings behind them that might as well be us. That empathy & humanity is what separates us from the people who commit these crimes, we gotta remember that when it comes to supporting victims/survivors of violent crime. Acts of prolific violence like this aren't easy to hear but too common to ignore. Sadly, religion is one of the biggest motives behind some really horrific acts. You guys are the best for being brave enough to drag it out into the light & get us talking about why these things happen & how we need to knock it off as a species.

Playboy Bunny Curse
Revisado: 12-03-22
There is definitely a curse, and it's the men who believed they owned those women...especially after they were exploited by men, who enjoyed most of the profit from their hard work & beautiful image. The substance abuse is a residual of that...being exploited by male power structures, corporations, and it caries into their relationships. In a sick, sad way it's always been considered a crime to be a beautiful woman. There are always going to be men trying to control & possess them. If you asked a group of beautiful women, you're going to find most of them have traumatic experiences with the opposite sex. Women portrayed as overtly sexual usually run into more danger from men than appreciation. It's very sad.

Coni takes you through a tale that we've seen too many times -- a man ruined by neglectful parents and a broken system. A serial killer with genuine remorse and a desire to remained incarcerated? It almost sounds too crazy to be true. David Edward Maust is an anomaly in the serial killer world who had Coni feeling something she usually doesn't feel when researching serial killers in addition to her disdain. I don't buy his "I told you so", story...
1. He's a pedophile, therefore he is manipulative & has a skewed view of realty. 2. He never pled guilty, he fought each case in court. He made up excuses, stories, drug people in as witnesses & took advantage of technicalities...He must've had great lawyers every time, he never was in jail long. He was a prolific child killer & rapist, he singlehandedly created unimaginable pain & suffering...I think he started the "please keep me in jail" bs only to insult the judges, lawyers, and authorities. The ONLY reason I give him an inkling of credit is because he had enough guts to complete his suicide. The psychopathy of violent sexual sadists, rapists, and child predators, doesn't allow for remorse or empathy. What might appear as genuine empathy a normal person would feel is actually manipulation, meant to either hurt someone or glorify/justify himself.
Explaining my take on the case for the sake of discussion...Great job as usual & especially in being objective about a question that's bound to bring big feelings any way you look at it. Full stars & sorry if this doesn't belong in the reviews.
My take-away from this case was that monsters like him are out of control & not capable of stopping...not his kind, not ever. Our justice system is responsible for keeping them out of society, and it's failure to do so over and over again is an imperative conversation we all need to partake in. Thanks again for taking the time to bring it to the table.

The small percentage of people guilty of harm...
Revisado: 12-02-22
Were..........The dudes of the clergy & church that've always been weird as hell🤨Those are the small percentage of people actually doing harm. The only thing any of those women were guilty of was being.......women. Not much has changed, the institution of the patriarchal church still gets away with whatever it wants to while casting judgement on everyone else.

You guys have become my very favorite true crime podcast🙌Women are making a huge difference in free media in the way these cases are reported & more importantly, in the way the victims & survivors are respected, remembered, & portrayed as human beings instead of just another of the vast, climbing number of missing & murdered women through the years. You guys are setting the standard that'll change it all. It's not just that these cases COULD be one of us, it's that these cases ARE many of us- TOO many. I love the way you guys keep it simple, relatable, realistic, without cutting corners or censoring what happens to so many of us. These are the conversations we need to have, my hands go up to you for taking the time to carry these voices on through the years!🙌💯

Started with Morbid now I'm here
Revisado: 11-19-22
I love that you guys have refused to back down from the reality & the relevance of these cases. Many podcasts have switched to ghost stories or "old timey" cases, but I'm so happy to see women still carrying on these stories. They aren't easy to hear but 100% necessary. The women of the true crime community are playing a major role in keeping victim/survivor's stories alive. They could be any one of us, they are all of us & shouldn't be swept under the rug because they're hard to talk about. It's the conversation society needs to have. This podcast is intelligent, informed, respectful, humane, doesn't pull any punches. They pick up the slack news outlets create minimizing the problem of violence against women & perpetuating a culture of victim blame. Podcasts like this are making an impact by showing the "pros" of traditional media how it should be done.

Leigh Leigh was only 14 years old in November 1989. Going to her very first "teenager party" should have been a fun rite of passage, but the night ended with a vibrant young girl's torture and death. Meg discusses how the media and the community blamed Leigh Leigh for her rape and murder which sparked a nationwide commentary on victim-blaming and a culture that shames women when they've done nothing wrong.Want to advertise on a podcast like ours? THANK YOU for keeping these stories alive & public knowledge. These stories- of which there are SO many -.are never easy to tell or listen to, but it's essential to our society &humanity that we address the epidemic of violence & aggression against women & girls. It's not pretty to look at, the numbers not easy to accept- but if we continue to bury our heads in the sand or turn the other way, the predators will escalate, enabled & empowered in their entitlement to our bodies & being. True crime reporting in the free media such as this podcast is vital in the fight against rape culture, violence against women, femicide. Big money media's misogynist take on these crimes is ignorant & adds to the oppression. We need more like you guys- realistic, respectful, telling it like it is, with sincere empathy & purpose. We don't tell or listen to these stories for the sensationalism, but because the voices these stories belong to are often discounted & silenced. We have a responsibility to carry these stories on because of the denial and insistence that there isn't a problem. The more voices that join in, the more open ears listening, the better chance we have st changing things. Sharing these stories & spreading awareness of just how atrocious these predators are & how hunted women have always been, is the first step in demanding the necessary reform, change, and justice we need in this broken system & misogynist culture.
I am very thankful for this podcast, I've seen so many switch over to "ghost stories & spooky lighthouses"🙄Because they don't want to speak of "negative" things, can't stomach what has been done to women, girls, children. Looking the other way is yet another kind of guilt, one that we can't afford. I commend you guys & all of us who are carrying these stories, these names, the human beings behind the headlines, their humanity and their need for justice. I am a true crime writer myself & I think we are all an important part in fighting this war against femicide & rape culture. Keep up what you're doing, it really DOES make a difference. We need every voice, especially articulate, intelligent women who put the time in doing the research & who are humane & respectful when it comes to honoring the victims & survivors of these stories & crimes. This has quickly become my favorite podcast, and I hope you guys never change your format, also that you get the credit you deserve. Ten stars, I recommend this podcast to everyone!
