Historia
On the island of Avalon, everyone has magical abilities. Except Selena Pearce. As if being the only nonmagical person on the island isn’t bad enough, her parents happen to be the king and queen of Avalon - and the most magical people alive. She’s never felt like she fit in on Avalon, but that all changes when she leaves the island and meets Julian - a mesmerizing, mysterious human.

painful to listen to, might be good for others.
Revisado: 08-22-23
it isn't truly bad I don't think, however it uses concepts that are simply anathema to me.
I really wanted to finish, but it just became more and more painful to listen to. The protagonist is described as being intelligent and a fast learner, yet every time she thinks or opens her mouth she proves otherwise. the main plot is like a mashed together crossover fanfiction of hunger games, Percy Jackson, and reality TV shows like survivor. this might be someone else's cup of tea but there's no way I can continue. Just hearing the term 'social game' gave me a headache.

Historia
Diana, a fire Elemental, is almost burned out. Alone in the world (save for her Elemental sisters), she takes satisfaction in punishing those who've strayed so far into the black they've disrupted the balance. But her contentment is increasingly short-lived as she struggles with the limitations of her ability. An Elemental can track murderers to the ends of the earth, but not before it's too late for their victims. So when a child from a previous case goes missing, Diana is determined to find her.

fun
Revisado: 02-04-23
main character was fun, it's more suspense than mystery since you can't solve it yourself. that said if the series continued past the second book I'd be happy to continue listening. it didn't delve too deeply into its own lore too much at one time that you felt removed from the story. I'm the kind of person who really enjoys over powered main characters, so this was right up my alley.

Historia
My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

decent story
Revisado: 07-17-21
the story is decent, the characters feel fairly shallow and one dimensional however. as far as the narration goes, the narrator did a very good job especially after the first book.
