Historia
Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father's inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty - until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. Hardening her heart, the young woman sets out to claim what is owed and soon gains a reputation for being able to turn silver into gold. When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk - grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh - Miryem's fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered.

3rd greatness from NN
Revisado: 08-28-22
This is what I considered to be the third work of Naomi Novak that I have read, the first being the Temeraire series and second being Uprooted, The Scholomance series is the fourth.
Ms. Novak’s skill has increased with each endeavor. She continually surprises me, as each story exceeds the previous and her skill level, which was great to begin with.
I heard her discuss this book live when it came out, and she emphasized how women are still not permitted to feel angry, and this book was about three different women who all felt angry. I found it very interesting to see this perspective played out, along with details from her own background of a Jewish Eastern European descendent, and those little points made the story so rich in every ways.
Great story, and very good narration as well. My only criticism with the narration. is that I would’ve found it helpful to start each chapter with the name of the protagonist or character from whose perspective it was being told (like in Game of Thrones), as it sometimes took a little while to catch up, and the narrator does not really create very distinctive voices for each character. But still a great job overall.

I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my life. Everyone loves Orion Lake. Everyone else, that is. Far as I’m concerned, he can keep his flashy combat magic to himself. I’m not joining his pack of adoring fans. I don’t need help surviving the Scholomance, even if they do. Forget the hordes of monsters and cursed artifacts; I’m probably the most dangerous thing in the place. Just give me a chance and I’ll level mountains and kill untold millions, making myself the dark queen of the world.

Another awesome story from Naomi Novik and narration
Revisado: 07-14-22
Naomi Novik has become one of my favorite authors, and improves her craft with each book. This story is delightfully inventive, and unexpectedly hilarious at points, including sly digs at the Harry Potter series. Narration was very good and believable as Galadriel as described in the books. I’ve read the second book as well, and I am eagerly awaiting the third installment and resolution of the story line.

Historia
The exhilarating adventures of Anne McCaffrey's best selling Crystal Singer series continue with Killashandra, a story that mixes interplanetary political intrigue with passionate romance. In this installment, Killashandra Ree's crystal claim has been exhausted, forcing her to take a new assignment and leave her new lover back on their native Ballybran. She goes undercover on a distant, desolate planet, searching desperately for the crystal that will save her - and, quite possibly, the fate of the entire universe.

Great book; bad production.
Revisado: 04-12-21
This is one of the classic Anne McCaffery books, written at the height of her considerable powers and solidly within her self-professed strength of a romance set in a sci-fi universe. The best of the three Crystal Singer books.
However, I cannot fathom why the producers elected for an abridged version. I did not realize it was abridged (and moverover, SEVERElY abridged) until after I bought it, and I feel cheated.

When Sun Wolf arrived, he discovered increasing signs of evil magic and demon-controlling spells. And he realized, too late, that a new swarm of demons was trying to lure him to his death....

Great story; terrible narration.
Revisado: 03-21-21
The Sunwolf and Hawk stories are some of my favorites by Barbara Hambly, exceeded only by the Winterland books. But I agree with many of the other reviews written - this is one of the worst narrations I have ever heard. Mechanical, with little inflection in tone or phrase, and with no regard for punctuation. Neither the narrator nor the producer should be allowed to work on audio books again.
