They listen to this over and over again.
Revisado: 10-21-14
I really didn't know anything about this series other than its inclusion in our second grade reading list. I had no idea that buying this would plant Freddy firmly within our family history. It began with this story, but we've gone on to listen to several other titles in this series. Freddy and the other inhabitants of Mr. Bean's Farm are wonderfully detailed and imaginative characters. Its entertaining for adults and children alike. It wouldn't be the same without John McDonough perfect narration.

During the last days of Narnia, the land faces its fiercest challenge - not an invader from without but an enemy from within. Lies and treachery have taken root, and only the king and a small band of loyal followers can prevent the destruction of all they hold dear in this, the magnificent ending to The Chronicles of Narnia.

C.S. Lewis AND Patrick Stewart - Win! Win!
Revisado: 10-21-14
My kids loved all six of the previous Narnia stories that we purchased in this series of audio books. Of course, C. S. Lewis does not disappoint with this last, beautiful offering. Patrick Stewart was a perfect narrator for The Last Battle. His voice has a beautiful range and he needed all of his skills to capture the despair and beauty and triumph in this work. This was a home run in our house.

Great book, Great Publisher, painful narration
Revisado: 10-21-14
We're thrilled that Bethlehem Books has made this title available on audible. Our 10 year old has really enjoyed reading along with the narration of the book. Its a wonderful, wholesome story. I'm sad to report the robotic narration leaves quite a bit to be desired. A children's book probably required a narrator with more of a range. I wish it wasn't true, but it is. I hope Bethlehem Books will continue to release their audio books on Audible! I just hope they can find a narrator to bring their wonderful stories alive.

Read by Paul Newman, Sidney Poitier, Kathleen Turner, and Matthew Broderick, here are the stories of the immortals of Olympus - the gods and goddesses of ancient Greece - as freshly described as if they were alive today. Mighty Zeus, with his fistful of thunderbolts; mischievous little Hermes; grey-eyed Athena, godess of wisdom; Asclepius, the first physician; Orpheus and his beloved Euridice; Helios the sun, crossing the heavens in his fiery chariot....

The best way to read the Book of Greek Myths!
Revisado: 10-03-13
We're so happy with this purchase. We love all the D'Aulaire books and have spent many happy hours with them, but, I must admit, the Book of Greek Myths was a bit of a trying experience to read. All the many names of the Greek Gods and Goddesses left me tongue tied, but the illustrations were so compelling that the children (8, 6 & 5) requested it again and again. It was such a joy to happen upon a flawlessly enunciated, unabridged recording. We often listen to it while following along with the book. Its been a great way to share these stories and now we all know how to pronounce the names!

Kipling's own drawings, with their long, funny captions, illustrate his hilarious explanations of "How the Camel Got His Hump", "How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin", "How the Armadillo Happened", and other animal How's. He began inventing these stories in his American wife's hometown of Brattleboro, Vermont, to amuse his eldest daughter - and they have served ever since as a source of laughter for children everywhere.

Timeless stories masterfully narrated
Revisado: 07-13-12
We purchased this as it was recommended on our first grade reading list. What a treasure! Kipling regales everyone with "origin" stories such as "How the Whale got his Throat" and "How the Camel got his Hump." It seems anything narrated by Jim Weiss turns to gold. This is a perfect narration for the car. Lots of short stories that can be completed in a short trip. This has been one of our best purchases as the children love to listen to them over and over again.

A childhood favorite
Revisado: 07-13-12
I loved this story as a child. The kindly Dr. who finds his way despite all insurmountable difficulties, the clever animals and the far fetched voyages and adventures are all wrapped up nicely with a satisfying ending. Now my children love this story and narration and have listen to it several times. Frohman's narration is well done with little quirky accents and a good sense of timing. This was a good purchase. Now we're onto The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle

Yea for Rufus!
Revisado: 05-07-12
Where does Rufus M. rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Its one of our favorites.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of course, Rufus is our favorite. He's a bit scruffy, valiantly determined, humble, sincere, curious and loves his family very much.
What about Christina Moore’s performance did you like?
Moore handles the different characters so well you lose yourself in the story and hardly realize that just one person is creating all these different people.
Any additional comments?
This book is on our daughter's second grade read aloud list, but our younger children have really enjoyed listening to it also.

Classic story, average performace
Revisado: 05-07-12
Where does The Secret Garden rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The narration falls far beneath Jim Weiss reading Beatrix Potter or Just So Stories, but the appeal of the story and its characters was very strong for my children.
What did you like best about this story?
The Secret Garden, a sad and tragic tale in the beginning, contains such memorable characters that the children couldn't wait to see what happened to them.
What aspect of Victoria McGee’s performance would you have changed?
Her management of the different accents was acceptable, but in general the story telling quality of her voice was lacking. I found it noticeably awkward and distracting, but the children, the intended audience, once they became interested in the story, didn't seem to mind at all.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
This is a completely irrelevant question.
Any additional comments?
I bought this quickly one day before an long car trip. There were several unabridged versions available and I bought the cheapest one. It might have been worth it to buy a more expensive version as the narration was the only thing lacking in this purchase.

My children will listen for hours
Revisado: 04-23-11
I was a bit dubious about this at first. It's a lot of language for kids ages 3, 5, and 7, but I was wrong to doubt its appeal. The children love all of these stories and have requested them over and over again for weeks. It's a great narration and a good price for almost 6 hours of storytelling.
