kinda fell flat as a True Crime story. I didn’t find it chilling or thrilling at all. Was interesting to learn about Victorian crime & medical culture but this read more like a factual textbook than suspenseful true crime

can’t wait to read the next one in the series. Nice pace and storyline. I wouldn’t say it is scary but magically haunting. Nice for the fall or winter

Loved this book! Great story and well-rounded characters. I was a little confused whose voice belonged to what male character for a while, but overall great production. Fun read

One of the best celebrity memoirs I’ve ever read (and I’m a fan of the genre). I thought it would be similar to other comedian’s memoirs but this one was strangely intense. I found myself needing to take brakes. Richard Pryor’s life was filled with racial violence, gender violence, sexual violence—but found the descriptions of drug abuse to be hardest to listen to. I would recommend the book for fans of nonfiction

This book was the second Ian Rutledge story I've read and I found myself fading in and out of interest throughout. My first encounter to this series was the Gatekeeper, which I gobbled up in one day. The Black Ascot seemed to be the next most popular so I downloaded it immediately. This book took me nearly 2 weeks to finally finish, and I slept through the final 40mins or so with no real motivation to rewind and go back. I just couldn't get into the story. Almost like the stakes were never really that high to me or the story was just too unbelievable.. I'm not sure.
Also I'm not sure I like the narrator of this series. I can always tell when he starts and stops for breaks. He also isn't too consistent with the voices for characters. I think his voice and tempo are smoothing, but that only makes the inconsistencies more jarring.

A great celebrity memoir of a favorite American TV show. Not the juiciest tea but still great insight to some very famous people.

Scotty's memoir about sexy parties from old Hollywood has no real narrative plot. It's more like a collection of erotic short stories. Some of the stories are difficult to listen to--like his early childhood/adolescent sexual activities and his daughter's complications from an illegal abortion--but most are harmless fun. I gasped and giggled many times throughout the book. Scotty is a real sex positive pioneer! If you like erotic gossip about TCM celebrities then you'll enjoy this book!

I downloaded Snobs for my Labor Day vacation to NYC expecting a fun frivolous fluff novel. Oh how delightful to learn it was more once I started listening. The story is fun and frivolous, true, but the writing quite good and the character development more complex than expected. Love the narrator's performance also. I'm very excited to listen to more by Fellowes

I was very excited to listen to this book. I'm very petty about the Trump administration, and very much enjoyed Fire & Fury despite Wolf's questionable ethics. I'm also a fan of reality TV villains, so I couldn't wait for Omarosa to give the Trump admin the reality TV treatment they deserved. I couldn't even finish it!! Maybe I would have liked the print version, but Omarosa's performance lacks all humor or pettiness. Instead of leaning into her villain roots, she delivers her lines to sound like Trump duped her. It's super hard to believe that she was just trying to help black folks altruistically. I'm going to ask for a refund.
