Too gruesome
Revisado: 11-14-21
It's too gruesome and I stopped listening. Some of his books are good and others he really goes overboard with graphic details of death or rape or something else just as gruesome. I'm tired of it! It's not entertaining.

Historia
It's difficult to imagine a nation with a history more compelling for Americans than Russia. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, this was the nation against which we measured our own nation's values and power and with whom war, if it ever came, could spell unimaginable catastrophe for our planet.Yet many Americans have never had the opportunity to study Russia in depth, and to see how the forces of history came together to shape a future so different from the dreams of most ordinary Russian people, eager to see their nation embrace Western values of progress, human rights, and justice.

Very well presented
Revisado: 05-15-21
I really enjoyed every bit of this presentation. Professor Steinberg is really engaging. I listened to this course to understand Russian culture better and my husband better, who is Russian. I think I achieved both. This course is about the history of the political stage in Russia, but that stage still forms part of the basis for one's out view on life. A great listen.

Historia
James Orlebar Cloyster, in order to marry his true love, embarks on a scheme of such clever deception that he very nearly manages to ruin both his romance and his career. Told from multiple viewpoints - that of James, his fiancée, and friends - Not George Washington lampoons London society, literary pretension, the West End stage, playwrights, playgoers, bohemian life, and the newspapers of the day.

The story was going along voluptuously and then ended abruptly. Also the audio is old so it skips.

Historia
The idyll of Blandings Castle is about to be disturbed, for the Hon. Freddie Threepwood is poised to make his debut as a jewel thief. Freddie, however, is not alone: Blandings is simply brimming with criminals and impostors all intent on stealing Aunt Constance's 20,000 pound diamond necklace. It is left to the debonair Psmith, with his usual aplomb, to unscramble the passion, problems, and identities, of one and all.

Revisado: 06-10-17
I listened to this book twice even though the production lacks continuity. The narrator reads pleasingly enough, but sometimes his voice is muffled. It's almost like he read the book in different recording studios with different acoustics, or like the producer turned the volume of his microphone down from time to time. It's annoying the first few times you hear it because you have to turn up the volume and rewind it to catch everything. But the Wodehouse story itself is wonderful. So, I listened to it twice.

Historia
Galahad Threepwood is causing scandal again...this time by deciding to NOT publish his potentially humiliating high-society memoirs. His decision causes rifts in the ranks at castle Blandings and all involved split into three camps: those who want the book suppressed, those who want it published, and those, who for some reason or another, that have been sent to steal it.

Historia
When you find yourself in need of a few laughs, you can't go wrong with P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves stories. "The Metropolitan Touch" delivers plenty of smiles, if not outright laughs. Bertie Wooster, our narrator, becomes entangled once again with the love life of his chum Bingo Little. Bingo has left the London high life for village England where he's found the girl of his dreams again. The trouble is that she has more and more suitors every week and has expressed little interest in Bingo.

Historia
When Bill Bannister meets Dr. Sally Smith, love blossoms immediately. Unfortunately there is just the small problem of Lottie Higginbotham, former actress, serial bride, and human fireball, with whom Bill is already involved. The well-meaning interference of Bill’s old friend, Squiffy Tidmouth, once married to Lottie, only complicates matters further, until everything is straightened out in a series of comic encounters at Bill’s ancestral home and everyone lives happily ever after.

Historia
"Work," said Psmith, with simple dignity. "I am now a member of the staff of this bank. Its interests are my interests. Psmith, the individual, ceases to exist, and there springs into being Psmith, the cog in the wheel of the New Asiatic Bank; Psmith, the link in the bank's chain; Psmith, the Worker. "I shall not spare myself," he proceeded earnestly. "I shall toil with all the accumulated energy of one who, up till now, has only known what work is like from hearsay."

Revisado: 05-23-17
I love Wodehouse stories. The narration left something to be desired. Many times the narrator sounded tired or bored. And, it was not fluid. There was a lot of repetitive reading. Maybe the editing is to blame. It was not as enjoyable to listen to as some of the other Wodehouse book.
